Yet, the rockglacier outflow was super low and the streamlet dry. We (actually: Martin :) did our best to measure and sample the little water that emerged at the spring.
Back from fieldwork on #rockglacier Murtèl. We heard water flow and measured 9 cm of ice melt since July 7 at our "ablation stake" in a deep furrow (one of the very few spots where the ice surface is accessible beneath the otherwise ~3-5 m thick debris mantle).

This is the tacit (and incorrect) assumption in your calculation.
I've just re-visited the #Rhone#glacier. The last time I was there was in summer 2017 for fieldwork on the glacier. The spot where we put our crampons on and stepped onto the ice is now in the lake. And that within merely five years! I stood there like petrified. #solastalgia
