Recording each photon individually avoids charge spread, removes readout noise, preserves detail in clusters, and gives clean spatial and energy information for reconstruction.
Clusters form when charge spreads across several pixels. LynXT3 reconstructs these clusters in post-processing and keeps the full track of each photon, which directly influences the resolution and energy results shown later in this series.
LynXT3 captures X-ray photons one by one. Instead of integrating charge across pixels, the detector records each photon as an individual event with its own position, energy, and charge footprint.
