⚠️ Don't grind our gears!
Tipp Roads Policing Unit came across this cyclist making their way westbound in the hard shoulder on the M7.
It is against the law to cycle on a motorway.
The cyclist was picked up and prosecution will now follow.

@GerHerbert1 At 68mph (moving), is that distracted driving if taking even 2 seconds attention from the road, as 2 second shoulder check gets you a grade 2 fault on the test for not having your eyes on the road. Anything more than a second is counted as distraction?
@NewstalkFM I agree it should be part of say, transition year? But restrictions should be a power ouput or power to weight restriction same as motorcycles. And set up in a similar way to the motorcycle IBT course but done via an online accreditation with no actual paperwork, save trees ;)
@paulmurphy_TD Who is this scumbag, name and shame him.. is no different from using a machete on someone on the street, attempted murder and should be dealt with as such.
@RShrubb If premeditated then it will come under "murder" not "manslaughter" if someone is killed off a bicycle, motorcycle, car, truck or bus losing control on this road, even after the fact, tyre damage too for later.
@dubtone Is one of the reasons I have asked rsa to introduce a road safety course with the issuing of a licence that would include public liability (TP) insurance of 2 yrs and renewable every 2 yrs or not allowed on our roads.. Safety first, hope you kid is ok..Good Luck
@ChrisThinkbiker Here, they sometimes get lay-by or just tend to stop at a junction on rural roads so can be dangerous to pass due to the junction and the danger they bring too
@ChrisThinkbiker I tend to be extremely careful as I pass the bus, in case someone steps out from front or back of bus, depending on which end is blocked from view. Same for all tall vehicles that block views.
@ChrisThinkbiker@exGlosPolBiker Yeah, it is a situation that can have many different options and results but the speed part is a given no matter which occurs
@exGlosPolBiker@ChrisThinkbiker Only one comment, laterally to right is possibly also into the side of the emerging vehicle? Would holding line or slightly to the rear of the vehicle give great chance of either a lesser impact or avoidance to the rear of the moving target?
@ChrisThinkbiker Short indication those behind, do not position to LOC and slow in preparation for possible evasion just incase driver does emerge, I wouldn't expect the car driver to upstand points man hand signal for proceeding straight ahead so better to just prep for worse case??
