I remember after 2008 when the politicians were done using young men as goons ,they unleashed a squad of killer police to eliminate all of them in the name of fighting mùngìkì . For months young men around kiambu and Nairobi had to live indoors never leaving their parents compounds ata duka hawakua wanaenda . We had to baby sit them at all times to keep them from leaving .
Any young man being used as a goon mark my words, because you can be used as a witness in court ,your life is in more danger than you know . Say no to goonism, say no to being used.
If you have ever wondered what it is like to travel from Nairobi to Kakuma by road, I did it.
17 hours, one bus, countless stops and some of the most fascinating scenery I have seen in Kenya.
A few things I'd tell anyone making this journey.🧵🇰🇪
YOU Looked for us? Intimidation Won’t Stop Us.
On 2 July 2026, TISA offices were subjected to what appeared to be a coordinated surveillance operation involving three heavily tinted Subarus and multiple unidentified men.
1.(Dark Grey Subaru): Carried five heavily built men. They attempted to gain access to the compound claiming they were there to see a lawyer, but couldn't name a contact person.
2.(Light Grey Subaru): Carried four men dressed in black, acting as immediate backup.
3.(Green Subaru): Acted as a third perimeter vehicle driving past slowly minutes later.
When challenged by security, they could not explain who they had come to see, rolled up their windows to conceal their identities, and drove away.
If the intention was to intimidate us, you failed.
If the intention was to remain covert, you failed even more.
We will not retreat, blink, or compromise. No amount of surveillance or intimidation will deter us from defending the public interest, tracking public resources, and demanding accountability.
To those behind these theatrics: Kwani si hufanya? Si hufanya nini kwani?
And we will continue to declare, loudly and consistently: Kenyans must gain budget literacy. An informed citizen is the strongest safeguard against corruption, impunity, and economic injustice!
Bolt drivers celebrating fares being hiked without knowing next they will need to have their KRA pin on the app, the increase in price is just for the tax man to take his share
Your phone tells Safaricom exactly where you are — every few seconds, just by being switched on. That's normal.
But, What is not normal? Kenyan courts finding, case after case, that police got that data without a warrant.
Hers is how the pipeline actually works 🧵

Nearly everyone makes very foolish and avoidable mistakes, when buying your first car. a car, especially your first car, mew or old.
My first car nearly drove me totally bankrupt. It left me with serious debts.
First, don't be deceived by the body looksof a car, I fell for this mistake when I bought my first car. .. kitambo.
It was a very pretty looking royal blue Toyota Celica. It had nice trims, new coat of paint, excellent interiors and of course good music.
Around that time, Toyota Celicas were winning in rallies worldwide.
When you are new in the game, you imangine that is a plus.. just like is happening with Subarus of today.
The owner was a snake oil salesman. The type who can sell ice cubes to Greenlanders.
Mimi, young and naive, I couldn't wait to take delivery!
..and this is where my greatest headaches begun.
That car engine was Twin Cam, meaning two engines driving one car.
It had twin cabuletors.
It developed 'mithi' at slight provocation.
It was a 2000 cc petrol guzzler.
There were no spares for Celicas in Nrb shops because very few models existed in kenya then.
Ikipata miss ilikua inakunywa 2lts every Km.
Only 2 mechanics in Nrb could sync those carbuletors... (same as Alfa Romeo and Alfasuds).
One lived in Ikinu Kiambu, and Muthui lived na uko Mathare.
Every weakend I was at the garage.
Every new week the car had a new issue.
It gulped every coin I made. I grew poorer by day.
Hiyo Celica ilifanya niingie huko Mathare ndani.. jioni. Risky.
That day the mech had failed to show up at his usual Total Pangani. Kufika Mathare nilipata hio nyumba mlango ni size ya dirisha coz half the house is a hole. Kumbe our mech alikua shughuli ya kutoa wife maternity.. I nearly sat on his new baby.. the single room was dark.
All this because my car was stuck at a petrol station.
Nilikua nafungiwa nyumba na landlord gari imenimaliza.
After 2 years and totally broke nikaweka ad hapo Standard classified.
Customers would come to view, lakini tukienda road test mafuta inaishia kwa barabara, saa hio umetoka kufuel na your last coins... customer anahepa.
After many months, akaja Koech (ubarikiwe Koech). Freshly retrenched from Kenya Post.
Koech hakutaka hadithi nyingi. Paid and left with 'the car'
Nilishukuru xmillion. Never been happier loosing a property.
From that time, I only made one more mistake when I bought a.. good looking Renault 5TL!
Hako ka Renault kalinipeleka mpaka nikafika. From town to Riruta kalikua kanachemka mara tatu na saa hio ni usiku. Nilikua ninabeba maji na 20lt mtungi.
I will once tell the story of Renault 5tl.

Immediately President of Paraguay put out statement to back French President.
Mbappe is actually who he thinks he is and that woman doesn’t yet know what she has done to herself and her family.
By David Ndiritu Mwangi:
If your business uses Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Salesforce, or ANY cloud software from abroad, you NEED to read this.
The Finance Act, 2026 has quietly dropped a tax bomb that will hit your bottom line. The government has officially expanded the definition of "Royalty" under the Income Tax Act, and it now catches a broad range of software related payments.
What does this mean for you?
Previously, there was a grey area around whether software licenses, maintenance fees, and SaaS subscriptions were subject to withholding tax. That grey area is GONE.
The new law now explicitly classifies the following as Royalties:
- Payments for ANY software (whether custom-built or off-the-shelf)
-License fees, development fees, training fees, AND support/maintenance fees
- Payments related to digital payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)—even if called "service fees" or "processing fees"
The Cost Impact
Because these are now royalties, you are required to withhold tax at 20% for non-resident providers (or 5% for local providers).
Here is the painful part: Most global tech giants (like Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce) do NOT accept "net" payments. They want their full invoice amount.
As such you need to grossup the invoice amount.
Example:
Your Google Workspace annual bill: USD 1,200 (this is what Google must receive)
Withholding Tax due (20%): USD 300 (calculated on the grossed-up amount)
Gross amount YOU must pay: USD 1,200 ÷ 0.8 = USD 1,500
Amount paid to Google: USD 1,200
WHT paid to KRA: USD 300
That is a 25% increase in the real cost of your subscription!
Who is affected?
-SMEs and Startups relying on affordable cloud tools
-IT Consultants and Digital Agencies
-Banks and Fintechs using payment gateways
- Any company with a foreign software subscription

5 years ago, money market funds held 95% of every shilling sitting in Kenya’s collective investment schemes.
They were the default. The safe, boring, everybody-does-it option.
Today? They’re down to just 52%.
Special funds have quietly become the 2nd-largest CIS category in Kenya now ~24% of total industry AUM, having overtaken fixed income funds entirely.
At the current pace, they could be the #1 category by late 2028.
Rakim spent 40 years in hip hop without a single Grammy nomination.
Not one. Zero. The man Eminem called "probably the greatest rapper of all time" was never even considered.
On May 8, 2026, that finally changed. Paid In Full was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Thirty eight years after the album that permanently changed how every rapper writes, delivers and thinks about lyricism.
Before Rakim, rappers rhymed at the end of lines. He changed that. Internal rhyme schemes, multi-syllable patterns, a cold and untouchable delivery nobody had heard before.
The Grammy Hall of Fame is not a Grammy. But after 40 years, it is recognition.
The God MC finally got his flowers.

On the glorious day we decide to take back our country FR, Kiamiko will be on the frontlines. Such resilience yani! From 9:00am to 7pm the protests were still on! We are genuinely very tired of the way things are and have been. A revolution is on the horizon. #RutoMustGo
