GAS PRICES: Americans are paying almost 25% less than they did during the Biden administration. If you want lower gas prices, electing Democrats is the wrong thing to do. California Democrats and their climate agenda have driven average gas prices to over $6 per gallon. Europe's climate policies are even worse, driving the price to $8.50 per gallon. The US average is $4.29 today, and without California, the national average is $4.12 per gallon, less than half of what they pay in Europe.
WEAPONIZATION: When Democrats retake the House in January, they're going after anyone who has supported the president and his administration. The goal is to bankrupt as many Republicans as possible to make it simply too expensive to publicly support conservatives.
🙏 Meet Robert - "Jail saved my life."
Robert wants elected officials to "go outside... and talk to the homeless, but they never talk to them."
We absolutely need compassion and reasonable solutions for homelessness.
But a reasonable solution is not writing a $100 million check to bureaucrats who have shown they don't know how to handle the problem.
BRAZIL: The Brazilian presidential election is an instructive lesson on how prediction markets can get it really wrong. The polls favored Bolsonaro by just one point over Lula, but Polymarket bettors were giving Bolsonaro an 80% chance of winning. And before you suggest someone was rigging Polymarket, remember the volume was almost $250,000,000. I thought the market movement was VERY interesting. When polls were scheduled to close (5 PM), Lula had just a 24.%% chance of winning. Then Justice Zanin (Lula's personal lawyer) extended voting at certain polling places for two hours. By the time the polls actually closed (7 PM), Lula's chances of winning rose to 39.2%. By 9 PM, the polls had moved to 99% when the results were announced. I think we'll see something similar in the Texas Senate race. Join my Polymarket squad for more discussion on political markets. #BET https://t.co/eN4kVhV7ZX
LAWFARE: The sad fact is that in the nation's capital, there is almost no justice to be found among DC judges and juries. I'm confident Rep. Ilhan Omar could commit murder on a livestream and be acquitted in the district.
MIDTERMS: The first week of early voting has wrapped up, so I thought it would make sense to look at turnout. I focused on Texas overall and Dallas specifically. I'll share the data, but I realized the raw numbers are misleading. This year, Texas Democrats had a real primary choice, Talarico v. Crockett, so they voted in their own primaries, not the Republican primaries. In prior years, Democrats participated in Texas GOP primaries and picked the lesser of two evils. In the general election, they'd obviously vote Democrat, but the data would make it look like they were Republicans. So this is making it very hard to compare 2022, 2024, and this year. So I normalized the data to remove the exaggerated size of the Democrat electorate this cycle, and I am pleased to report that Republicans are outperforming Democrats in early voting turnout. This isn't to say we can relax, but it means we have a real chance of winning down-ballot races if we keep turning out Republican voters.
MINNESOTA SENATE RACE: I wish my kids texted me as much as Michele Tafoya does (seriously, stop texting me). The fact is that her opponent facilitated much of the Somali fraud in the state. Hopefully Tafoya can pull a rabbit out of her hat and win.
BRAZIL: Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva lost the election until his Supreme Court nominee extended the election in certain locations for two hours. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has officially lost unless the election can be annulled.
