The locomotive, crew and track slot cost broadly the same whether you carry one layer of containers or two. So the second layer adds a lot of cargo without proportionally adding cost. DFCCILโs pricing reflects this: the first tier is priced like a normal single-stack movement, while the second is roughly half-price. That brings the cost per container down by around 40โ45%.
In simple terms: one train path can move roughly 180 containers instead of 90 without needing another locomotive, crew or path.

The DFC network is only a small fraction of Indian Railways' route length, yet it already carries a disproportionately large share of freight.
Also, think of all those trucks and diesel consumption this train will be taking off Indian roads.

We are the first to do this.
India is running double-stack container trains under electric overhead wires โ something no nation has done. They have always used diesel trains for double-stack.
Two containers stacked on top of each other need much greater electrical clearance. That meant redesigning the overhead electrification system and raising the pantograph/clearance envelope. We solved it and have implemented it.
So this isn't simply "put more containers on a train."
It is a different railway architecture: dedicated freight tracks + electrification + double stacking + longer trains.
And we are the first one to do this.
More containers per train.
Lower cost per container.
Faster freight movement.
Less road congestion.
Lower diesel consumption per tonne-km.
It's the infrastructure given by the Modi govt which is changing the economics of how freight moves across the country.

@trainwalebhaiya@macroschema Atleast the MAHSR is in U/C stage if not operational, not swamped by lawsuits, politics and protests unlike CAHSR & HS2, built in "1st World Countries" and in the same country (UK) where the train was born.
@stats_feed This rating has been made on the basis of other features such as cost, reliability and frequency because Abu Dhabi seems to be ranked much higher than cities such as Seoul and London despite it not having a single KM of railway of any type (Metro, Tram, Suburbanโฆ)
A post after a long time!
Arnav Writes is back with a fresh article that brings spotlight to a topic most individuals have no idea about. (Hint: It happened in 1973)

@TheKanpurIndex The problem is that they give time estimates (I.e Republic Day), but we are not sure whether it actually opens by then or not.
I used to hear that Vande Sleeper will launch by this Diwali on the Delhi Patna route but now nobody is mentioning this except for the trains interiors.
@marinebharat California HSR is already far behind
The question remains: Can LA-LV HSR prove to not fall for the same fate as California HSR and win the market?
@gemsofbabus_@RailMinIndia Agree, but they are back answering because it is clear these tweets are being posted just before the election time
Or else before they used to simply take details and assess the situation, sometimes even actually fixing the issue like anything broken or overcrowding
