@MikeIsaac I'd keep it until it dies. When I moved into my new place I inherited a 30-year-old Maytag dryer that works perfectly except that the timer is dead. Part to replace it is $800. So I have to manually turn it off every time. Totally worth it. Don't replace!
@Ashkhen So glad you're on the road to recovery! Thank you for sharing. It is so important to advocate for yourself when something doesn't feel right. 🫂
The amazing Kristin Wilson @BrodyMullinsDC & Woody Woodruff are creating streaming interview show with members. Couple hours a day, when Congress is in session. Reporters from @NOTUSreports@PuckNews & veterans of NPR, CBS will be contributor/interviews. Click thru & sign up.
People make this “who’s in the DMV” thing so hard. It’s not that difficult. Did you grow up with this amazing gentleman on your tv telling you if you had a snow day? Congrats you’re living in the DMV.
As we kick off State of the Net today, we extend our sincere thanks to our collaborators at @GlenEchoGroup. @Amy_Schatz, @TommyKaelin and the whole team have been instrumental in making today’s event possible, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership. Thank you!
@mattyglesias@BaltimoreBanner DC is hardly a news desert because the Post gutted the Metro section years ago, which prompted folks who care about hyper-local news to start new outlets. Agree it would be fab if the Banner expanded. Hate seeing so many amazing reporters lose their jobs.
@geoffreyfowler@washingtonpost I'm so sorry. This is heartbreaking and whatever outlet snaps you up (unless you make that Substack paid!) will be the luckier for it. 🫂
Totally agree. Scott's done a great job building ARLNow and new verticals focused on the DMV. I subscribe to FFXNow and some other local online news outlets because I really care about local news.
@chucktodd Agree that there’s a void here in terms of comprehensive local sports coverage. But there are still lots of other local outlets and journalists doing great work covering the DC area. Maybe consider supporting and elevating what they’re doing? https://t.co/r0LW99UtDI
So fun hearing @Roblox developers talk on Capitol Hill at an event (w/ice cream!) about how they built crazy successful businesses on the platform. One started at age 7 (!) Am feeling very much like a slacker.
