It has been months in the making, but today I launched the 2026 Midterms Candidate Due Diligence website.

For far too long we have not had a comprehensive side-by-side picture of who is funding our candidates, who pays for them to get elected, their stance on issues we care about, and many more important factors.

So, I built what I could not find: a page for every single person on your ballot, showing exactly who is paying for them.

Pick your state and you get your voting rules, issues on your specific ballot this midterm, a map of your congressional districts, the measures on your ballot and what they actually do, and a profile on all 2,517 candidates for governor, Senate and House.

For each candidate it shows where their money came from and who wrote the checks, what outside groups spent for them and against them, the companies and nonprofits they own out of their own financial disclosure, and where they stand on the issues with the vote or the quote behind it.

Every number links back to the filing it came from. If something is missing or something is wrong, tell me and I will fix it.

Finalizing some of the smaller elections now, but it's 80% done.

PMC COVlD Update, Sep 28, 2026 (US):
🔸We're in a 13th COVlD wave.
🔸40 states and territories continue to have COVlD outbreaks, stable from last week.
🔸Levels likely peaked between Sep 7-13 at a PMC-estimated 580,000 new daily infections, though there are data quality issues noted below.

Use layered COVlD safety:
🔹Get boosted ASAP, especially if high transmission nearby. Novavax has a lower side effect profile than other boosters and comparable effectiveness.
🔹Mask up with a well-fitting N95 respirator.
🔹Improve air hygiene: Open windows, flip the HVAC from auto to on, shut off the car's recirculation 'feature,' add air purifiers, and / or use air quality monitors.
🔹Test daily when sick, exposed, or gathering, and stay home when sick.
🔹Monitor your blood pressure to reduce the risk of surprise post-acute cardiovascular sequelae.
🔹Spread accurate information by sending dashboard screenshots to family, checking the public health credentials and experience of information sources, and avoiding sharing 'miracle' interventions.

Details:
The US has at least 40 states and territories with COVlD outbreaks, the same number reported last week. These include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
There are likely outbreaks in additional states. The summary statistic of 40 only includes counties with observed data, rather than estimated data. For example, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, and Tennessee likely have outbreaks, but monitoring is poor.

Nuance:
Note that while PMC uses forecasting to estimate national statistics through Sep 28 and beyond, the state-level data do not, meaning they are now 9 days old. If the national forecast is correct, levels peaked between Sept 7-13, closely aligned with our prior forecasts. This would mean that levels are declining more so than depicted in the map. Levels often decline slowly, suggesting the need for ongoing precautions. Additionally, Biobot and 200 CDC sites are offline this week, and both have experienced major retroactive corrections of late, so the national forecast has more uncertainty than usual. For example, we could see the peak adjusted upward or a double peak. It is unclear how quickly reporting will resume at the offline sites.

WOAH 🚨 Senator Josh Hawley says that Flock Safety Cameras admitted to him in a private message they are saving images of every American inside their vehicles and they can search those images BY PEOPLE, not license plate

Hawley says this is a mass surveillance network like we’ve never seen being setup right here in America at a very shockingly fast pace

He says Flock is also searchable by bumper stickers on vehicles, like Trump stickers or NRA or pro-life or anything. Flock is using AI to be able to identify people down to the bumper stickers on their cars, even dents

“Flock's cameras can even recognize whether people are in the images. And in fact, Flock admitted in a letter to me ahead of this hearing that you could search their database based on people's images. You could ask to search people, images that had people, images that are scanning the the inside of the cars. I mean, this is really quite extraordinary”

“What seems to make these networks unique is not just the sheer number of cameras, it's the fact that they're all linked together and powered and searchable by AI. It's unlike anything we've ever seen in this country before — They store and catalog details like the vehicle's make, model, color, location, date, time. Flock's searchable features include details like dents and roof cracks and vehicle damage and racks on the roof or racks on the back or specific bumper stickers even. You think about that. I mean, Flock can tell you if a car has a Trump sticker or a Harris sticker or a Pro-Life America sticker or an NRA sticker.

It's really quite extraordinary.”
