@MartinOdimaJr Retired after nearly 30 years. I too felt I needed 5 years to feel like I had enough in my teaching toolkit to address what the students needed. Mentoring teachers should reflect that reality.
Upsetting, yes. Graphic, no doubt. The impact of an assault weapon cannot be understated. My @washingtonpost subscription allows me to share it in full: https://t.co/VnXoEhT5wr.
As a 7th grader, my jr high classmates & I were put into an assembly where we watched a lung removal from a smoker. That graphic made the effects of cigarettes a reality. I view this morning's WAPO article on #AR15 similarly.
@JayWamsted Had a 2nd grader draw me... with a HUGE streak of dark brown hair by my part-I was more of a blonde back then :-). Healthy self-esteem for sure!
@NoetheMatt Lowell High - I live in the neighborhood. Parents parking cars on both sides of French/Father Morrisette in NO PARKING zones make negotiating roadways insane. I was stuck for 20 minutes at the intersection by Tsongas Center last week.
In case you're tired of nonstop pants-on-fire news cycles, here's a little diversion (& a good way to use up that #stpaddysday leftover head of #cabbage fr WaPo's Weekly #vegetarian. You may want to buy more cabbage. #homecook#food#foodphotography

Actress and Goop CEO Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in court, looking somber in a beige turtleneck sweater, as she faced charges in an alleged hit-and-run ski incident. A man is suing Paltrow for $300,000, claiming that she crashed into him while skiing in Utah. https://t.co/vTUm4nakvy
@NateSilver538 So, here's a fun fact. When my family lived in Northern Ohio (between Cleveland and Toledo), my Dad - who worked in a agricultural feed biz was on EST while the town was on EDT.... good times.
@SIfill_ Yes, absolutely. My COLLEGE choir sang this and some others in Frostiana by Randall Thompson. Robert Frost was had a connection to the college, Plymouth State (now University) in Plymouth, NH.
I remember! No matter what your connection to education (and mine is def in the past), this is a great lesson in reading & reading instruction wars.
