We are eager for feedback from our community as we prepare for journal submission – hoping to go back-to-back with another group who has discovered this ClpCP adaptor via a completely different route. Stay tuned…
Rivka (@rli22) and I met in 2001 in Pam Silver’s lab and have been collaborating ever since we both became PIs at @kclchemistry (Rivka) and @mtholyoke (me). We’ve published together before but are thrilled to share our big story that goes back a decade!
Through a range of genetic, microbiological, biochemical, and biophysical assays we discovered that the Bacillus subtilis protein YjbA functions as a novel adaptor for the ClpCP protease during spore development.
@RileeZeinert Thanks Rilee! So excited for this story to go live—an amazing collaboration with @rli22 and @KursadTurgay and others. Hoping to put together a thread soon. Also excited to check out your new story—congrats right backatcha!
The Pioneer Valley Microbiology Symposium organizing committee is happy to announce PVMS 2024! See the flyer below and be sure to save the date! Abstract submissions and registrations are now open. Stay tuned for more updates...

The @mtholyoke biology department is seeking a visiting instructor to teach Microbiology with lab in Spring 2024. A great opportunity to gain teaching experience in a small liberal arts college setting. Please share, and msg me directly with questions/how to apply.
I typically teach this course and could share class and lab materials. I would also be happy to serve as a mentor, as I will not be on leave but rather teaching another course.
Hi all,
It is my pleasure to launch the HHMI Biointeractive and SEAS program's FREE course on 'Inclusive Teaching'. More than anything, this course asks us amidst the haste to slow down, pause and reflect on being human-centered in teaching .

@RamamurthiLab@Dr_Savage_Sci Oh Kumaran, this is heartbreaking news 💔 A huge loss—for her loved ones, colleagues, our microbiology community, and science. I always looked forward to seeing Christina at conferences and hearing her latest discoveries about B subtilis sporulation. She will be deeply missed.
