I want a “reverse Costco” where you can buy small amounts of items you will rarely use again, like specialty ingredients.
Let me pay $1 for 1 oz of fish sauce. Yes, I can get much more for not that much more money but then I’ll feel guilty every time I see it in my fridge.

What is the ORF?
The ORF assessment is a valuable (and QUICK!) tool in your toolkit for monitoring and improving students' reading abilities. This article by @janhasbrouck explains even more about ORF!

So we are all clear it is NOT evidence-based intervention if the instruction is not explicit, prescriptive, and diagnostic.
In addition, students need to be given immediate specific feedback about what they are doing well and what they are not and should be afforded ample practice opportunities.
We also can't forget that the tools/programs being used need to be evidence-based, and the teachers need to be adequately trained.
We also can't forget that the intensity of services or intervention needs to be commensurate with the kids' needs.
We also can forget that kids need to be grouped according to their skill needs and that for many kids groups of 5 or 6 is too much.
We also can't forget that for this to be implemented successfully a highly skilled teacher who understands the difference between evidence-based practices and those that are not.
Successfully carrying this requires a disciplined administration that is willing to provide growth opportunities for their staff and coach it.
All of this is expensive which is why investing in TIER 1 makes so much sense.
The new Colorado Disability Opportunity Office (CDOO) is HIRING an Office Director! (1/2 🧵)
An honor to run HB24-1360 earlier this year with Rep. @ChadClifford to create CDOO. I’m incredibly excited to watch how this office expands the disability rights landscape in Colorado.
Literacy advocates: Ask school PTAs to survey parents to find how many have kids in private tutoring for reading.
That kind of concrete questioning can spark change. Why are people paying? What are they paying for? Who can't afford to pay? Take results to the board and the Sup.
Imagine being unable to read about world events. You only get what the TV or videos online tell you. Your mind is a propagandists play pen.
Some may choose to never read other sources, but many are stuck there via illiteracy.
BREAKING: Colo. State Senate panel votes to kill public records bill just now. This was the "vexatious requester" bill*
*lawmakers had previously removed the "vexatious" language.
Oral reading fluency (ORF), in many studies, has a 0.7 - 0.9 coefficient correlation with reading comprehension.
That’s one of the most mind blowing statistics I’ve come across in education. Thanks @janhasbrouck
