From gado-gado to cendol, 🇮🇩 Indonesia has some of the best food in the 🌏world. @lensaRTV's Achmad Topan joined me on a trip to Pasar Baru to jajan bakso and talk about how food connects us to home.

🧵4. The post compulsory pathway is such a hard path to walk down as a language teacher, where highly capable students have the world at their feet in terms of subject choices. Pique interest in languages as a lifelong skill and feel joy when you see things come full circle ⭕️
🧵1.Last week, I received one of those emails that every teacher hopes to receive. A parent of a past Indonesian student wrote to me sharing that thanks to @MonashUni her son had managed to travel to Indonesia with his studies and the #MonashGig
🧵3. As a teacher, it affirms the fact that VCE language studies doesn’t need to be the pinnacle. This student finished his Indonesian studies at the end of year 10. With a solid 7-10 language foundation, there is so much potential.

Mum life does involve things other than TV, but good TV helps to make nap time brighter! Another fabulous multilingual series - danish, German, Portuguese, Cantonese, French and polish all on display. Also love watching shows with captions now.

‘From Scratch’ is a Netflix tear jerker, but also a fantastic display of Italian and Sicilian language. Loved the translanguaging and Zoe’s multilingual heritage shining on screen.
@Skymazef3 @CEMelbourne I would love that @Skymazef3 ! I’m on maternity leave at the moment with a nearly 4 month old little bub. I’ll definitely try for MLTAV conf as it’s a milestone event 🥳
So important to get things right in the junior years! I am so fortunate to have seen dynamic program shifts at @CEMelbourne schools, where thoughtful comprehensible input equals greater language output
Love this! One of my favourite batik pieces adorns a precious wall in my home - direct from a gallery in Yogyakarta. Such a great teaching resource too using the sentence stem “saya suka batik karena…”
@Lilylauren Love this! A whole new take on ‘textiles’
The skill of sewing is still important, but totally has the capacity to take on a new form from the old school subject.
What do you say in Bahasa Indonesia if you agree with someone's opinion? Sella, one of ACICIS' interns in Yogyakarta will tell you about it through #bahasasesh
@SueFarroukh https://t.co/ntMGWtggPh The super tree grove is best to see at night, so maybe split and do one morning and one evening? Lau pa sat hawker in the cbd was also a fav food spot
@SueFarroukh Gardens by the bay is done best over a couple of days - so much to see and very kid friendly! There is a mini hawker market inside for lunch or dinner. Book the zoo well in advance. Breakfast with the orangutans is my pick! 🦧
It's great Albanese is in Indonesia, but Australia needs to do a lot more to reset relations. Here are 5 ways to start https://t.co/uQrTUd1t9h via @ConversationEDU
Life update - currently on maternity leave and enjoying some time to still scroll through teacher Twitter from a distance! 38 weeks and ready to meet our little person 👶🏻
