The phrase ‘separation of church and state,’ which appears in no founding document (only in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson), means that America must never have a state religion, not that the state be indifferent to religion.
Over 140 Catholics - clergy, scholars, intellectuals, and people from all walks of life around the world have now signed "For Zion's Sake: A Catholic Appeal in Support of Israel."
On the one hand, the response so far has exceeded expectations. Thank you to the courageous supporters who have been willing to take a stand and make a difference!
On the other hand, many Catholics are still deeply 'stuck' in supersessionist thinking and/or have been swayed by the tendentious anti-Israel media coverage of the past years. Being in Jerusalem right now, I am struck once again how the reality on the ground is totally different from the picture presented by the media.
Unfortunately, most Catholic media have also proven themselves largely unreliable in their reports on Israel and the Middle-East conflict.
"For Zion's Sake" - our Catholic appeal in support of Israel - does not gloss over real problems and challenges. Yet we have observed again and again that biblical solidarity and friendship with Israel yields far better results in improving the lot of the local Christians here than the sterile supersessionism and contemptuous anti-Zionism still embraced and even promoted by so many Catholics.
Let's begin to change the narrative. You can still join us and make a difference.

If you continue listening to my conversation with @MontseEWTN, you'll see that we later clarified what some listeners may have interpreted as dual-covenant theology earlier in the episode. Unfortunately, too many Christians today are quick to take comments out of context and slow to extend charity when commentators don't express themselves with perfect precision. Clarity matters but so does listening to the whole conversation before passing judgment.
I never, ever thought I'd need to clarify that the Church does not teach dual covenant theology. If the Church doesn't teach it, I don't believe it. If you'd like to understand the Church's teachings, I highly recommend reading the the Prefect for the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in a document entitled, The Lord Jesus: On the Unicity and Salvific Universality of Jesus Christ and the Church. Here's a podcast interview I do on it years ago:

"For Zion's Sake: A #Catholic Appeal in Support of Israel" now has nearly 140 Catholic signatories, including clergy, scholars, and professionals. You can still add your name and join our coalition of courageous Catholic friends of #Israel. Enough with anti-Israel Catholic influencers who claim to speak for the Catholic Church.

Why would the New York Times run questionable stories about Israel at the exact moment Hamas atrocities were being exposed? @DennisPrager says it’s no coincidence: the Times published a story to flip the narrative, bury the truth, and excuse evil.

Why is the United States paying attention to what’s happening in Nigeria? @DennisPrager says evil demands a response. And when no other country will act, America must. That’s what “America First” really means: not isolation, but leadership in the fight against evil.

This is the best articulation of how I feel about Israel. Thank you.
I literally traveled to CEU in Budapest to gain access to private Soros archives. I smuggled in a scanner to scan every document possible.
And here's the hard truth: Israel simply isn't a player. Yes, many impactful policymakers are Jewish. But Jewish isn't Israel. Israel is just a tiny nobody country that has outsized impact in the USA of extreme religious significance to Muslims.
Muslim nations also happen to be by far the most powerful UN voting bloc and thus arguably the most powerful global faction in the world. So if UN has to pass anything, they have to get approval from Muslims. Which makes Israel a disproportionate target.
As a result, literally billions upon billions of dollars are being spent by Muslim nations to condition everyone into thinking Israel has some sort of influence. And that's why news media about Israel dropping a few million on influencers dominate everything but you have Qatar spending billions and billions in influence pass by in silence.
Spare Us the Selective Outrage: Since October 7, we have been lectured nonstop about the supposedly singular sins of Israel... https://t.co/DC7j2cQX8f via @VDHanson
I loved this conversation @davidsenra@RickRubin’s relentless pursuit of reduction and simplification feels increasingly important in a world designed to overwhelm us.
The ability to simplify is its own form of wisdom. Clarity is often found through reduction, not addition.
People ask me all the time why @ShabbosK has so much patience arguing with low-IQ people. My answer is: somebody has to do it. And fortunately, Shabbos is intelligent and patient enough to handle it. He has courage and wisdom.
Im THRILLED that @JeremyDBoreing & @FrSteveGrunow (an Evangelical and a Catholic) teamed up to address tribalism & the weaponization of Christianity online.
Jeremy observed, “Tribalism online…is ripping asunder the relationship between Evangelicals and Catholics in this country, is ripping apart the relationship between Christians and Jews in this country…”
They went on to discuss the “Christ is King” controversy:
“It’s a tool. If you wield truth as a cudgel, then it’s no longer serving the value of truth,” said Jeremy.
Fr. Steve agreed, “I could beat you over the head with a crucifix, but it ain’t evangelization at that point.”

Friends, today I celebrate my 40th anniversary as a priest.
These past decades—almost two-thirds of my life—have been joyful indeed, and I have never once regretted my decision to become a priest. The priesthood has taken me all over the world and deep into the hearts of people I’ve been privileged to serve.
Thank you for your prayers and support over these many years. Please continue to pray for me and all priests, and know of my continued prayers for you.
