The manager going is for the best, including for him. That has been clear for months.
But it is mostly desperately sad. He was responsible for giving so many people the best days of their lives.
To go from the joy of a year ago, to all of the misery since then, is unfathomable.
The UK public celebrates a genuine national treasure on his centenary, which coincides with a landslide of council votes for a political party that rejects net zero, wants to defund the institutions that Attenborough's life has enriched, and doesn't care about nature. Go figure.

The Kop & Anfield stood as one today, supporters totally united.
A clear message to @LFC that couldn’t be louder or more honest.
Take this appalling three-year run of price rises off the table.
Football was built by the working classes.
Price them out, and you strip the game of its soul.
#FootballWithoutFansIsNothing

We’ve asked them to reconsider and like the captain said, find a solution. They haven’t.
We ask supporters to make themselves heard
Today marks 37 years since the Hillsborough disaster, which led to 97 people tragically losing their lives.
I pay tribute to their families and loved ones, whose courage, dignity and determination in the face of unimaginable grief has been extraordinary.
The Hillsborough Law would be a fitting tribute to the 97 and their families, who will never get the justice they deserve. This is about ensuring no other bereaved families have the same battle.
We must deliver on our promise for a full Hillsborough Law.

Our thoughts on this significant and poignant day, as always, are with all those affected by the tragedy at Hillsborough and we pause in memory of the 97 fans who will never be forgotten.
We’ve been in all of the meetings mentioned Billy, you haven’t.
The facts have all been put out by the @_lfcsb and invites for owners to even attend the meetings.
The offer still stands to debate. Listen to the heartbeat.
