Author of stories with enchantments and secrets, like the Unfixed duology & I Know You Like a Murder. Inquisitive. Quirky. Imaginative. Obsessed. #writerslife
On this National Kitten Day, I'm writing my portal fantasy, and out of the blue a cat shows up in the story. I've never had a pet cat before. Please comment all the wild and best details about your pet cat so this rascal can adequately represent.
I used to think the only path was traditional publishing with a Big 5 publisher. Being with a small press has given me a much deeper appreciation for the challenges indie authors face.
One of the biggest ways you can support an indie author takes only a few seconds: leave a star rating. Even if you don’t have time to write a review, that rating is still valuable. It provides social proof, helps readers decide to give a book a chance, and means more to authors than you might realize.

Hubby just said "well, it's not a funeral home" out of nowhere about the location of my next book event, and now I'm just wondering where's the book fair at a funeral home for books about death/murder. The intrigue! Who's gonna make this happen?
always remember is goodreads and social media and amazon numbers are only ONE slice of the publishing pie. these are things visible to you; but there are many readers who love your books who are never publicly reviewing. your outreach is beyond the metrics of the internet
Did you know you can get a free short story from the world of Unfixed by joining my email list? Plus, next week I'll be sending a limited offer out to subscribers only 👀 Don't miss it! Sign up at https://t.co/smQGHeQc6Q today
@NikoleCallihan Correct, not difficult at all, fill in a few details, upload the ebook and cover image, hit submit. So easy! I wasn't a winner so not familiar with that side of the process (though I'd love to learn it, maybe one day 😏)
Immerse yourself in one of my favs! The Inkheart trilogy introduced teenage me to the possibility & magic of the written word. Delightfully, the author recently began releasing new books in the Inkworld series, too. Enjoy the magic of getting pulled into yet another story...
Literature is humanity’s longest conversation with itself about what it means to be alive. It has been going on for thousands of years. You are not late, you are not unqualified, you are not too much or too little or too broken. Pull up a chair. This conversation was always about you.
Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
“There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
“If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice!
“Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”
@JuneDayBooks Ideally, you don't wanna sell out, so bring more than enough if you can. (I keep a "backup box" in the car, beyond what I plan to sell in best-case scenario.)
@JuneDayBooks It depends on the size/type of event. If it's relatively small, 10 of each is a good starting point to have available. But I've sold nearly 50 before at better events, & other authors sell hundreds.
