NEW Primer: With each extreme weather event, coal plant closure, & new technology, climate risks & opportunities become more apparent. Understanding how climate change impacts the 💵fiscal health💵 of local govts is key to thriving communities. @C2ES_org https://t.co/UrLzTVAJpn
As we face another summer of record-breaking heatwaves, I sat down with @YahooFinance to discuss extreme heat's impact on the economy. We need more action from both the private and public sectors, and we need to cut the emissions driving up global temperatures in the first place.
Camille Millard, Preparedness & Resilience Coordinator for our office spoke today about the Larimer Connects Community Hubs program at the Envisioning Resilience Hubs & Microgrids in the North Front Range Workshop today hosted by the @C2ES_org!

"We must invest in a more resilient grid and economy while cutting the emissions that are driving up global temperatures in the first place," says C2ES President @NatKeohane for @YahooFinance on the impact of extreme heat on the economy and how companies are adapting.

If this describes the competence of the @wef with regard to energy, I would be concerned for very different reasons...

Nothing better attests to creeping third worldization in America more than declining power reliability. The growing number of people who feel compelled to install generators is a negative societal indicator. https://t.co/DZSiy6LNj9
Local communities are at risk of experiencing property damage and loss due to climate-related extreme weather events. @RockyMtnInst's blog series offers strategies to help these communities invest in proactive resilience measures.

This is fascinating. The “power pose” people should maybe feel vindicated? “Motion and emotion and planning are linked in the brain, new research shows” via @NPR - https://t.co/1Stlmh1tRN
The federal govt is coming to terms with the many ways climate impacts are already presenting real consequences to American life - and its own role in perpetuating this blind spot in decision making. The Daily presents an intro to the challenge: https://t.co/aQ5Y2ZBATJ
Staggering images & storytelling of a long unfolding quandary. When developers & policymakers repeatedly ignore climate risk in the name of protecting economic benefit, it can get pretty impossible to… well, economically benefit.
1) A thread: Last spring, this video of a home collapsing into the ocean in Rodanthe, N.C., went viral. It was the third to fall in a brief period. It got me wondering how folks in that part of the Outer Banks are facing rapid erosion. So I went to see.

By 2100, NYC will see as much as 6 ft of sea level rise, intense storms and heat waves that further strain our infrastructure systems. The burden will be greatest on communities with the fewest resources.
RT if you agree: we must revitalize with ALL communities in mind.
