On this Sunday, I reflect on what has kept me grounded all these years in following Jesus, and it was the story of Daniel that continually strengthened my faith and conviction.

In Daniel 1:8, it says:

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself…”

Before the pressure came, Daniel had already made up his mind to honor God. That verse deeply impacted me as a young believer. Like Daniel, I purposed in my heart early in my youth to live for the Lord, and that decision has guided my marriage, family, raising children, and public service.

I gave my life to Jesus at the end of 8th grade during a Harvest Crusade, and that commitment became my north star through every season of life.

In a culture that constantly pressures us to compromise, may we stand firm in faith, conviction, and truth.

Today is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, God’s love never fails. The cross was not the end—it was the beginning of hope, redemption, and victory.

Today I filed my papers at the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
It's official—I'm running for Congress in CA-45.

Holding those papers, I thought of the boat, my dad counting out his last $20 to start our new life here as refugees. Now his daughter is fighting to represent the district where we landed.

Sacramento politicians are pushing an outrageous new mileage tax that would charge hardworking Californians 6 to 9 cents for every mile you drive. That amounts to an additional $900 to $1,200 per year per driver—money taken directly out of the pockets of working families, seniors, and small businesses who are already struggling with the high cost of living in California.

They are laying the groundwork for this tax through Assembly Bill 1421, and if we do not push back aggressively now, they will quietly move forward and find a way to reach even deeper into your pocketbooks. This mileage tax punishes those who must commute to work, take their kids to school, attend medical appointments, or simply live their daily lives. It disproportionately harms working-class families and residents in suburban communities like Westminster, where driving is not a luxury—it is a necessity.

Tonight, I respectfully urge the Mayor and this Council to allow me to agendize this item. I am asking for a second to this motion so that we can formally oppose AB 1421, a bill that lays the foundation for imposing a mileage tax on every driver in California. Westminster must stand up and clearly say no to policies that unfairly burden our residents.

**UPDATE: Tonight, the Mayor and Council rejected my resolution opposing AB 1421. In doing so, they forgot their duty to defend local control and stand up for the people they were elected to serve.

When elected officials fail to lead, the people must speak out. Tonight’s vote exposed a lack of courage and conviction—leaders frozen like deer in the headlights while Sacramento pushes yet another tyrannical policy onto our local residents.

Westminster deserves leaders who will fight for taxpayers, protect local control, and stand firm against overreach from Sacramento. True leadership is desperately needed.
