The Apple event just happened. Here are the implications for #eventprofs:

-VisionPro. An augmented reality device. You look through things instead of looking into the visor. This is essentially a Meta Quest competitor with Mixed reality as opposed to Virtual Reality.

The mixed reality aspect is specifically important for events. Adding layers of information and context makes in-person events context-rich an virtual events more immersive. The lack of nunchucks makes it easier for portability.

The device can capture 3D memories. This is incredibly powerful for events. You can relive moments at events.

-Check-in. This is a security feature for attendees to flag when they have been back from an event. It could be integrated for on-site check-in at the event or safety.

-Namedrop. This is a potentially disruptive feature for the event industry.

Apple is launching an easy way to share your business card with other attendees at events or potentially with exhibitors at trade shows. Just a tap will transfer all your info to someone else.

This feature also drops content. This is a great way to give away marketing/sales content at live events.

-Large Overlay Mode. This feature for virtual speakers works natively with Zoom, Webex, and Teams. It creates overlay opportunities and superimposes speakers over slides.

Groundbreaking for remote speakers, this is a direct stab at production tools.

-Continuity camera. This feature turns your iPhone into a smart camera with face tracking and gesture to emoji. You can move the conversation to Apple TV, and attendees can see meetings live on TVs.

This is a game changer for hybrid and virtual event participation.

Adoption of all these tools will be the decider. Events have been at the core of the WWDC event.
