If they try and push through the Assusted Dying Bill we need a GE immediately because pushing through something extremely unsafe & expensive without the public voting for it is wrong. Something this big that changes the relationship between the State & individual needs a public vote. Starmer wont get away with this
This one of the worst House of Commons in living memory. The enthusiasm of some Labour MPs for encouraging vulnerable people to end their lives is frankly shocking.
In the latest installment of 'The Green Party is not a harmless environmental group but is in fact a dangerous cult of far-left extremists', here's their leader Zack Polanski who's very upset that someone has gone to prison for their brave 'direct action' - though he fails to mention that it included smashing a female police officer's spine with a sledgehammer (on video!) whilst she lay on the floor.
Dangerous. Extremists. Being found out.
My goodness this is appalling.
A 15-year-old female wrestler wasn’t told her opponent was male.
She only found out when she complained she had suffered a serious sexual assault during the match (as captured in this video).
When her complaint became public she was bullied at school. She has quit wrestling.
@RosieDuffield1 This is the thing that most baffles me about politics. Shouldn’t there be rules that certain briefs go to people with relevant experience?
The BBC did this too: wrote a headline to suggest a sensitive prude over-reacted to an admirer. "Asked for a kiss" sounds like an optimistic romantic. In fact he grabbed her hair, virtually sat on her and frightened her. Why are the media so ok with crimes against women? 🤔
@jk_rowling@CrochetLady15@roughedges___ You’ve just unlocked a memory of my doing this whilst temping but I have no recollection what my speed was! One of those random things is completely forgotten about until now.
The latest statistics show 62% of biological males who identify as transgender have been convicted of sexual offences.
That is compared to 17% for the overall male prison population.
In the UK, 11 trans people have been murdered since 2000.
In the same country, from 2009 - 2021, 16 women were murdered by serving or retired police officers. Not killed by officers in the line of duty — flat out murdered.
In 2022 alone, 11 British women were killed by male strangers. 12 were murdered by their own sons; 150 British women have been murdered by their own sons since 2012.
On average, a woman is murdered by a man in the UK once every 72 hours.
Where is the Day of Remembrance for the women murdered by their own sons? By their husbands, their fathers, their brothers? By serving police officers?
In the last 25 years, there have been nearly twice as many trans-identifying murderers than there have been murder victims - 20 murderers, versus 11 victims — and yet we’re told to believe that this is a genocide, while our own dead go ignored and unnamed.
These people are, per capita, the safest demographic in the UK, with a homicide rate of 0.38 per 100k (for women, it’s 0.50 per 100k, and for normal men, it’s 1.23.) but we’re supposed to believe that they’re being physically exterminated? Or is genocide another one of those words that has deliberately been stripped of its meaning, like “woman” and “female”?
Who gains when people are conditioned to roll their eyes at the word “genocide”? When “woman” has no meaning in law or policy? What is the end game here?
This is extraordinary and it needs to be seen.
Jolyon Maugham KC of the Good Law Project has just published a WhatsApp message sent to Wes Streeting on 11 July 2024, days after Labour won the general election.
The message reads: “Promise I won’t make a habit of messaging. But we are going to have to decide today how hard to slide in on your decision to defend Atkins’ regulations. There is a world in which we coordinate and don’t slide in very hard at all, indeed protect you politically. But we can’t do it unless your team coordinates with us.”
Read that carefully.
This was sent in the context of a High Court challenge to the puberty blocker ban. Streeting was being asked whether he would make Victoria Atkins’ temporary ban permanent. According to Maugham, Streeting prevaricated and then announced he would make it permanent the morning the hearing started.
Maugham says he and colleagues who knew Streeting tried on multiple occasions to reach out to him. They were all blanked. Every single one of them.
His conclusion was clear. By refusing to even speak to the Good Law Project on an issue of huge importance to trans people, Streeting was telling them loud and clear that they could have no influence over the government. There was no point even trying to be critical friends to Labour.
Wes Streeting is now on LBC saying he fears the clock being turned back on LGBTQIA+ progress.
The man who made the puberty blocker ban permanent. Who blanked every attempt to discuss trans healthcare with the people challenging it in court. Who ignored WhatsApp messages from one of the country’s leading human rights lawyers.
Now ‘fears’ the clock being turned back.
The record is the record. And now it is public.
@wesstreeting is a transphobic bigot
Suggesting this is a "Woman" is like suggesting a child in a doctors play kit should be allowed remove your appendix
The fact that a significant portion of society will tell you my opinion is "offensive" and "hateful" defines the utter lunacy of what western society has become.
I'm a cardiologist. A 42-year-old mother of two came to my office complaining of jaw pain and crushing fatigue. She ran half-marathons. Her EKG was normal. Another doctor had sent her home with anxiety medication.
When I got her into the cath lab, I found severe microvascular disease — plaque choking the tiniest vessels of her heart, the ones standard angiograms routinely miss.
Her heart had been starving in silence while everyone told her she was stressed.
She is alive today. Too many women like her are not.
Heart disease kills more women than every cancer combined. And medicine is still diagnosing it through a male lens.
84% of cardiologists report having patients in the past year whose heart disease was misdiagnosed by another physician. Women with a STEMI heart attack have a 59% greater chance of being misdiagnosed compared to men. Women with an NSTEMI — 41% greater chance.
The reason is structural. For decades, we screened, tested, and treated women using a template built for men.
Men's heart attacks announce themselves — the crushing chest pain, the clutched fist, the Hollywood collapse. Women's hearts whisper. Crushing fatigue that feels like wearing a lead vest. Jaw pain written off as TMJ. Nausea blamed on a stomach bug. An ache between the shoulder blades blamed on a long week. Shortness of breath blamed on being out of shape.
For years, medicine called these "atypical" symptoms. They are not atypical. They are female-typical. Half of humanity is not a variant.
And the biology runs deeper than symptoms.
Women have smaller hearts and narrower coronary arteries. Plaque doesn't only clog the big highway vessels — it hides in the microvasculature, the tiny branches feeding the heart muscle itself. A woman can have a heart attack with a completely "clean" standard angiogram.
SCAD — spontaneous coronary artery dissection — occurs 90% of the time in women. Often young, fit women with zero traditional risk factors. It's the leading cause of heart attack in women under 50, accounting for roughly one quarter of all cases in that age group. Most doctors have never diagnosed one.
And some of the most dangerous cardiac risk factors are hidden in women's medical histories where no one thinks to look:
Preeclampsia or gestational hypertension doubles to quadruples lifetime heart disease and stroke risk. Pregnancy is the body's first cardiac stress test — and these complications are early warning sirens, not closed chapters.
Autoimmune disease — lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis — far more common in women, turbocharges inflammation and plaque formation at any age.
Cardiovascular disease in women aged 20-44 is projected to surge nearly 50% by 2050.
The youngest patients in my practice keep getting younger.
What every woman should ask her doctor — and what every doctor should be asking:
"Given my pregnancy history, autoimmune status, and family history — what is my full cardiovascular risk?" If they don't ask about preeclampsia or gestational diabetes, volunteer it.
"Should I have an Lp(a) test and a coronary calcium score?" Standard cholesterol panels miss too much. Lp(a) is genetic, one-time, and most women have never been tested.
"My tests came back normal but my symptoms haven't stopped — what's next?" Normal stress tests and angiograms can miss microvascular disease, spasm, and SCAD. Persistent symptoms warrant coronary CT angiography or cardiac MRI.
And if something feels wrong — say these exact words to your doctor: "I am concerned this could be my heart."
That single sentence changes the workup. Do not soften it. Do not apologize for it.
80% of heart disease is preventable. But the playbook has to be built for female biology.
Two decades ago, I wrote one of the first books warning that heart disease was the number one killer of women and that medicine was diagnosing it through a male lens. It was recognized by First Lady Laura Bush at the White House during the early years of the national conversation about women's heart health.
I'm haunted by how much of that book I could republish today unchanged.
The science has advanced. The awareness has grown. But the gap between what we know and what happens in the exam room is still costing women their lives.
Share this with every woman you love — and every doctor who treats them. READ MORE: https://t.co/4LRugiY8q2
I hope the @cityoflondon & #HampsteadLadiesPond are proud of themselves. This is what you’re enabling- this is what you are cheering for. Blokes pissing in the women’s pond & showing off about it.
Fun times
