Sad and ironic how so many sanctions won't hurt Putin's regime but will do exactly the opposite and support it. Canceling independent social surveys in Russia is def no threat to the regime. If Putin himself is likely to ban something, perhaps it's not a sanction at all?

1. The divide between religious and secular Europeans over moral issues (abortion, euthanasia…) shrinks between 1981 and 2008
2. At the same time, the divide between the high- and low-educated over immigration, and law and order only gets wider!
