Something that really messes me up about being a kid in the early 2000s was being a part of a generation that started putting up posters of kids of all colors holding hands around the globe, celebrating earth day in school by planting a tree or doing something mindful for the planet, and learning about caring for everyone and the earth. Genuinely that is how the future was shown to me and that's what I expected for us. None of it happened.

Look how high that got. That's like 150ft or more up from the bathtub ring of mud to the base of the river. There's nothing left but just Earth and you sadly can tell those flat plateau areas are where areas of civilization once stood. That level of flash flooding and how fast that came in, it was all luck if you were high up.
