Marriage is not beautiful.
Marriage can be quite ugly; it reveals the absolute worst in someone. You see them when they're mad, sad, stubborn, and unlovable to the point that it makes you want to scream. But you also witness them laughing so hard that tears stream down their face, accompanied by those amusing, involuntary noises.
You share those 3 a.m. moments when the world is asleep, and it’s just the two of you, sitting on the kitchen floor, enjoying a midnight snack. You get to see sides of them that no one else does, and they’re not always pretty. It’s about snorting while laughing, shedding tears when everything feels overwhelming, dealing with the occasional flatulence, waking up to bedhead and bad breath, engaging in spontaneous dances, and experiencing the full spectrum of anger and joy.
Marriage isn’t beautiful, but it is amazing. It’s knowing that someone loves you deeply and won’t leave you, even when you say something hurtful. It’s about having someone who supports you no matter what. It involves arguments over trivial matters, like who didn’t do the dishes or pick up after themselves. And it includes those nights when you fall asleep in each other’s arms, feeling as though there will never be enough time together. It’s about caring for them when they’re sick, whether that means cleaning up after them or simply rubbing their back for comfort.
It’s the dirtiest, hardest, and most rewarding job there is. Because at the end of the day, you get to crawl into bed with your best friend—the weirdest, most annoying, loving, goofy, and perfect person you know. Marriage may not be beautiful, but it’s one hell of a ride.
Imagínate ser tan gato que seas Mexicano y andes protestando por la captura de Nicolás Maduro cuando TODOS TODOS TODOS lo días te meten el pito los de Morena.
