"... unless you came to New Zealand and added your own piece of land, we are on Maori land... As family, it is our duty as Tangata Moana to stand in solidarity with our Maori family in their sovereignty fight" - Lefaoali'i Dr Dion Enari

A 🧵 on our opening performance at the Pacific arts festival.
NO Fijian, none absolutely none can deny the joy and pride on the faces of those young performers who took the stage to represent our country at the Pacific Arts Festival. /1
In 2007 @fijitimes published my letter to the Editor. It was picked up & uploaded 2a blog site. While an unknown number of ppl have undergone some form of harm physically or emotionally triggered by the 2006 coup, perhaps today's outcome may offer some form of justice. #FijiPol
CJ Salesi Temo will go down in history as the judge for upholding his integrity and independence for this historic ruling on Bainimarama & Qiliho's.
Whatever flaws the current government have, I will never stop being glad this fucker is now nothing more than a regular dog turd! Drop the arrogance piggyfuck, your glory days are over. Also, why do the press keep showing up to his pressers when he's always so rude to them?!
Fiji Prime Minister @slrabuka met with His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace in London on 7th May 2024. The historic meeting reaffirmed the strong and enduring relationship between Fiji & the United Kingdom. 🇬🇧🤝🇫🇯

I was studying child development, & when a parent or adult hits a kid throughout their childhood, they can end up developing a dissociative disorder in adulthood. A child cannot physically escape abuse majority of the time, so they mentally go else where and detach mentally in order to protect themselves as much as they can.
So as an adult, whenever they experience pain, fear, or discomfort, especially from a loved one, instead of knowing how to work through it, or even leave the abuse, they dissociate in order to mentally escape, while being frozen in fear.
So beating your child teaches them not only is it okay for someone you love to hit you, but it also teaches them how to stay in abusive situations.
Hopes this helps for anyone who uses the line “my parents beat me and I turned out fine”.
I also learned how abused children can end up being highly imaginative and creative as adults because they’ve constantly flexed that part of their brain in order to create a new world in their mind, practiced from dissociating as a child. This isn’t really a positive either because they find it very hard to ground themselves and to be a part of society/reality. They end up being hermits, struggle with socializing and can pick up addictions much easier.
So much respect those Fijians who have left our shore to settle overseas. For some it is greener on the other side, while for some the adjustments are challenging. I for one have traveled my whole life the world over, but realized that it’s not as easy or simple as it seems.
15 years ago today, I asked you to believe in the change we could create together—and you did. I’m so proud of our Obama alumni, many of whom we saw this week, for carrying that mission forward.
Breaking News: Just now, #Hamas snipers have reportedly killed dozens of children and women on the streets, targeting those attempting to travel from north to south #Gaza and those displaying white flags as a sign of peace. Similar acts have previously been attributed to Palestinian and #Hezbollah terrorists in Syria. They do not want civilians to leave; they want to use them as human shields and kill anyone who attempts to leave. Hamas terrorists in Gaza will, as usual, blame #Israel because it is easy and there is media that accepts this propaganda.

Mosab Hassan Yousef was not only a member of Hamas, he is the eldest son of a Founding Member of Hamas. He fought alongside his father for years, he spent time in an Israeli prison where he saw Hamas torturing their own people then flipped and worked undercover for Israel's security agency Shin Bet for more than a decade - providing information that helped expose Hamas cells and prevent dozens of suicide attacks and assassinations on Israelis. 7Dubbed "The Green Prince', he is now disowned by his father and speaking out - warning the world that Hamas is out to annihilate the Jewish people and says a ceasefire with Hamas will only lead to more violence.
Auckland has another 210 homes today as a new housing development opens in Onehunga.
Mayor Wayne Brown was there to cut the ribbon on Manaaki, a joint project between Ockham Residential and Marutūāhu.
"Thank you to everyone involved in the making of this project. From the location of its build to its design, it's clear a lot of thought has gone into this. I campaigned on making better use of our existing infrastructure. That's why I believe it is a development that should set the standard for others."
