The Government of Uganda notes with concern inaccurate reports on Ebola. Current facts show only 8 confirmed cases with all contacts identified, listed and under active follow-up. I urge all media and citizens to rely only on official @MinofHealthUG updates. @UgandaMediaCent

Today afternoon I joined several dignitaries and the people of Kajara, Ntungamo as I represented H.E. @KagutaMuseveni and @GovUganda at the official burial of the late Hon. Amb Kweronda Ruhemba. He served in the Constituent Assembly and later as a Member of Parliament in the Sixth Parliament, representing Kajara County and thereafter as Uganda’s Ambassador to Geneva, South Africa among others.
The President paid tribute to Hon. Ruhemba as a dedicated leader who served with distinction in the Constituent Assembly, Parliament and Uganda’s foreign service, always advancing the interests of the country.
Even in retirement, the President noted, he continued to guide and inspire younger leaders. His contribution to unity and development will be remembered.
After learning of his demise, I read through the Parliament Hansard and noted his many key contributions during plenary debates, particularly on agriculture, especially pushing for policies that enabled our agriculture produces to access markets.
Together with the late Prof. George Kanyeihamba, they advocated for granting citizenship to foreigners who lived in Uganda for a long time and own property. This has made investors more stable and confident in committing their money to Uganda.
I thanked the people of Ntungamo for making history by giving the President his second-highest vote tally in the country—over 235,000 votes, second only to Isingiro District and voting massively for @NRMOnline candidates.
I want to thank The President for granting an official burial to Hon. Ruhemba; he truly deserved it.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

“Your Excellency, this gown I am wearing, this degree I am receiving, this moment I am living… none of it would exist without you.
I come from a home where school fees were a dream too heavy to carry. But because you said education must reach every child, I sat in a UPE classroom. Because you said no child should stop at Primary, I continued to USE. And because you believed that even the poorest among us can reach university, today I stand here… a graduate.
This cap, this gown, these cheers — they all belong to you first.
Baba, I may never shake your hand, but please know: today a village boy walked the red carpet carrying your picture the way a son carries his father’s pride.”

Thank u Mzee for coming down to support their talents.
