Our vision as Government is to leverage ICTs to spur economic transformation & improve people’s lives. Technology per se will be of no or little consequence if it doesn’t translate into a better quality of life for our people.

Today, Hon. @Hon_Ssebugwawo , Minister of State for Information, officially launched Uganda’s National Data Strategy, setting a shared direction for how the country can better manage, protect, share and use data to drive national development.
The strategy is built around three key pillars: data governance, data infrastructure and strategic data utilisation, supported by people and culture, and research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
As we move towards implementation, protecting people’s privacy, building trust and ensuring that data informs decisions that improve lives must remain a priority.
Today, we marked an important milestone in Uganda’s digital transformation with the launch of the National Data Strategy.
Data plays an important role in how we plan, make decisions and deliver services to our people.
This Strategy provides a framework for better coordination across Government institutions, ensuring that data is well managed, secure and put to good use in addressing the needs of our citizens.
Pleased to join today’s panel at the launch of Uganda’s National Data Strategy. Congratulations @MoICT_Ug@azawedde@mmubangizi15! I highlighted universities’ role in training people to manage, analyse & safeguard data for better decisions & services.
“As accounting officers and institutional leaders, we must connect the Strategy to our plans and budgets. This includes improving our records, identifying where secure data sharing can improve services, and addressing our teams' skills needs. The Ministry will work with Ministries, Departments and Agencies, local governments, the private sector and development partners to coordinate the rollout. Public awareness will accompany this work so that citizens understand the Strategy and have opportunities to raise concerns.”

Permanent Secretary @MoICT_Ug
