Because @RideUTA TRAX doesn't get signal priority, the light turned red right right as my Red Line approached Courthouse Station making 200+ riders have to wait for about 40 something drivers.
@wanderingdave@SaltLakeTom@slcpd If they were actually patrolling, maybe, but that is clearly someone looking their phone. Either way it is hypocritical for officers to be enforcing rules on cyclists when some are actively breaking rules made to protect said cyclists.
Hey @slcpd, can you inform your officers out enforcing not to block bikeways that people are trying to use to get to places? I politely asked this officer to back up into the driveway because there were blocking more than half of the 400 S bikeway and they continued to block it.
As is tradition when the weather begins to warm in Salt Lake City, the bike riding enthusiasts gather at the intersection of 900 South and 900 East in Salt Lake City for community rides.
@SaltLakeTom@wanderingdave@slcpd I did not stop but tried to be as loud as I could with my vocal warning without being intrusive and gave a visual hand signal as seen by my shadow.
@SaltLakeTom@wanderingdave@slcpd Additionally, I only brought this up publicly after they the department went public about enforcement. Otherwise, I was just going to report this privately.
@wanderingdave@RideUTA Apparently, they did send a bus in-between scheduled headways that did end up catching up to the fully loaded bus, but she was ready to be stuck there for another 15 minutes and was already calling in late.
Just got a call from my partner that they were trying to catch the @RideUTA Route 2 bus, but was denied boarding because it was full of FrontRunner passengers. It can be assumed this is a trickle down effect of Red Line riders who are avoiding the bus bridge.
This is just another example of how the current at best headways of 15 minutes on alternate routes can't handle the entire TRAX network being bisected, even during summer break at the U, and there needed to be more done than just bus bridges to accommodate riders.
Normally I take the S-Line to TRAX back from the Smiths in Sugarhouse to avoid having to squeeze my shopping cart onto the bus, but if I have to take one any may as well make it a one seat ride.
Time to experience the @RideUTA TRAX bus bridge for the first time since it started last week. Normally it takes me 35 minutes to get from Planetarium to WinCo in South Salt Lake. Let's see how long it takes now just having to go one stop into the bridge.
It would be even faster for me to get home if I could avoid the diversion through the avenues, but the transfer is perfectly missed for both the 2 and 220. Instead of saving me 10 minutes, it only saves me 3 making it hardly worth it, especially with my cart.
And like clockwork it took me 50 minutes to get here. Probably would have been faster if I had taken a 200 S to the 200 on State St but I had to experience the bridge at least once.

This was also the best case scenario as since I was going to Central Pointe, it did not matter which shuttle I was getting on. If I was continuing further down the line, I wouldn't have that luxury.
