Yamapi (Tomohisa Yamashita): "I’m really happy to have made friends in Thailand, especially Golf and Gulf. I’m truly grateful to both of them for making time to come and meet me. I hope we’ll get to see each other again many more times in the future"

Yamapi: I'm so so happy to have friends in Thailand, both P'Golf and P'Gulf. Thank you both for taking the time to come and meet me. I hope we get to see each other again and again.

I'm honestly dreaming of getting a magazine cover like this photo… with the slightly parted lips. These kinds of shots are seriously the best. Gulf, please do more of these!

The Onitsuka Tiger brand entered the European market under the name ASICS as part of an expansion strategy; its history is complex but highlights the significance of these achievements, given that it only emerged from the shadows in 2002.
1. The Birth of Onitsuka Tiger (1949)
After the war, former military officer Kihachiro Onitsuka founded Onitsuka Co., Ltd. in Kobe, Japan. Its mission was social: to boost the morale and health of young Japanese people devastated by the conflict through
sport.
The first innovations arise from curious intuitions:
The "octopus" basketball shoe (1951): Looking at the tentacles of an octopus in a salad bowl, Onitsuka designs a suction cup sole to ensure maximum grip on the parquet.
Magic Runner (1960): A marathon shoe featuring ventilation holes to prevent runners from getting blisters.
2. The iconic stripes
In preparation for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, the brand launched the Mexico 66 line, introducing the famous crisscrossing stripes on the sides (Tiger Stripes) for the first time.
These lines were not only aesthetically pleasing, but also served to provide stability and structural support to the upper.
3. The transformation into ASICS (1977)
In 1977, Onitsuka Tiger merged with two other sportswear and equipment companies, GTO and Jelenk. This union created a new multinational, renamed ASICS.
The name ASICS is an acronym for the famous Latin phrase by the poet Juvenal: "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano." This acronym perfectly encapsulates the founder's original philosophy. In the years that followed, ASICS pioneered cutting-edge sports engineering, such as the introduction of its renowned GEL cushioning technology in 1986.
4. The relaunch of Onitsuka Tiger (2002 - present)
After the merger, the "Onitsuka Tiger" name was temporarily abandoned in favor of the global ASICS brand.
However, in 2002, ASICS decided to relaunch Onitsuka Tiger as an independent brand dedicated to retro-inspired fashion and streetwear, reissuing classic models from the 1960s and 1970s.
The line's global success was also confirmed by the cinema: the yellow and black shoes worn by Bruce Lee in Game of Thrones (1972) were reprised by Quentin Tarantino in Kill Bill (2003) on the feet of Uma Thurman, transforming the Mexico 66 into a cult
object of pop culture.
