Most of this account is personal blogposting and arguing or whatever and not anything most people would want regular updates on but I'm gonna put links to other shit at the top so you can see things I post that are more worth engaging in.
@freakonalaesh Once he sees some form of path to the life he wants, everything gets re-evaluated, he feels guilt, he tries to make amends. It's hard to say he was ever THAT terrible, but it's clear he doesn't like the things he was responsible for and tries to fix them.
@freakonalaesh Agni starts just going through the motions to get revenge. It's not until Judah loses her memory and believes she's his sister that he's forced to reconcile with that version of him that only cared about the revenge. Consequences didn't register till he wanted to stick around.
@freakonalaesh Of course Togata is usually pretty beloved so it's not as applicable, but this is exactly why Denji has so many people who hate him or CSM in general based on how he acts; either they feel its unrealistic due to ignorance, or their put off by the fact he IS extremely realistic.
@freakonalaesh Togata is a person cursed to be forever incapable of embracing their desired identity, and all his psychosis and anti-social tendencies are directly downstream of this in ways that we can see all over IRL. Their powers and the setting are mostly flavor.
@gunk4188 Well yeah. Someone who is prone to meticulously criticizing minute aspects of a game (really, someone who cares at all) is only minimally going to touch AAA slop in the first place. Meanwhile the target demos of said slop treat everything as a 2 cakes situation.
@whyfayiah@TheAziH In theory, it SHOULD be a good thing, because an infinitely derivative piece is also not ideal. But that assumes the money is being put towards something worthwhile. It almost never is, because its not the people who MADE the good piece greenlighting the other projects.
@whyfayiah@TheAziH A piece of art is shown to be well liked and successful, but has the resources it accrues through its success funneled away from it to produce pipedream trash instead of back into itself, because the original piece is successful *in spite of* the higher ups, not because of them.
@EDITINGZ0NE Our barn cat used to be named Screech cause she meowed weird but one day she came walking in with one of her eyes dangling out of the socket, and ended up losing it. For some reason my family decided to start calling her Popeye from then on.
@mkmcsm There's a sort of survivorship bias situation where the more capable you are of ruining someones life the less likely doing so will affect you. Unfortunately very easy to experience when dealing with certain kinds of personality disorders.
@TheAziH Also worth mentioning that gacha games produce a ton of money for those metrics, but might as well be an entirely different industry in terms of demographic, very similar to how mobile games started being lumped in. Hoyoverse players are not buying CoD games.
@TheAziH As others have said, it happened before that stuff saw mass adoption. The real problem is most big companies have singular games that make absurd money, and the higher ups siphon off profits to produce absolute slop. Minecraft and FF14 are the biggest victims of that.
@oubagaku The whole purpose of ratings scales like this is also to truncate your views for easier digestion. If you find the rating scale ineffective when it comes to how it's "expected" to be read, maybe just don't ue it? Every ratings site people bother to use usually makes it optional.
@oubagaku In the same sense as neitzsche's views on truth, sure, there's no real definition, but in any functional or intuitive sense a rating system is "out of X" and so the closer it is to equaling X, the better.
@turtlekiosk Being able to learn how to properly use a PC, especially a more "specialized" aspect such as torrenting, shows you some problem solving skills and can follow instructions and make reasonable decisions on 'safety'. It also likely means you're dead broke. So, sure.
