Loss and Damage Fund: Why the future is unclear
“COP29 did not deliver the kind of action or finance needed to address the scale of Loss and Damage already harming vulnerable countries. How will they cope with the increasing impacts of climate change?’’

@gemgord@CDMinisterial @kathykijiner @SWalshEU Belgium's Special Envoy for Climate and Environment emphasized that 97% of Belgium's foreign climate finance is funds but this must be scaled. Programmatic approaches from the donor and recipient sides will be required for this scaling.
@gemgord@CDMinisterial @kathykijiner @SWalshEU "We need to make a better case to finance Ministries and show them, addressing climate impacts is not just a matter of climate action, but also it's a social and economic imperative "
I am sorry to see that despite years of talk, gender inequality is on full display at the #UNGA General Debate.
Less than 10% of speakers this week are women.
This is unacceptable – especially when we know gender equality delivers for peace, climate action and much more.
Fantastic news for a Wednesday morning: UK will again have a climate envoy, and a climate rockstar at that.
@rkyte365 we'll all look forward to working with you to shift the political space for faster climate action across the globe.
@AnaMulio@toeolesulusulu, Samoa's Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and Lands made a compelling case for channeling adaptation finance behind national plans - projects developed by MDBs cost far more than nationally designed projects in Samoa's experience.
