I write this to you not just as a well-wisher, but as someone who has, in the past, critically observed your entry into politics. Today, however, the people’s verdict is decisive and unambiguous. I wholeheartedly congratulate you on this remarkable mandate.

What you have achieved is extraordinary by any standard. It is rare to witness such a groundswell of public trust translating into electoral success, and it reflects a deep emotional connect with the people of Tamil Nadu.

One of the most striking aspects of this mandate is the emergence of a large number of young, elected representatives. This is unprecedented in our political landscape and, in my view, a significant strategic asset. Youth brings energy, adaptability, and a forward-looking mindset—qualities that can redefine governance if channeled effectively. As a citizen, I place great hope in this generational shift.

At the same time, I would like to share a concern that I believe deserves immediate attention. While Tamil Nadu remains one of India’s leading economies—consistently ranking among the top contributors to the country’s GDP—the state’s fiscal pressure has been increasing. Rising debt levels and growing revenue expenditure, particularly on subsidies and welfare schemes, are outpacing long-term capital investments.

Over the years, successive governments have expanded direct benefit and welfare programs. While these have social value, some schemes—especially those involving direct cash transfers or consumption-based incentives—may not always create sustainable economic returns.

Given your unique mandate—driven more by public affection than transactional promises—you are in a rare position. You have the political capital to initiate a calibrated shift:

-> Rationalise certain high-cost, low-impact welfare schemes

Reallocate resources toward long-term investments such as:
--> Education and skill development
--> Sustainable agriculture and water management
--> Research and innovation (AI, energy, deep tech, etc.)
--> Infrastructure that drives productivity and employment

If communicated transparently, I strongly believe the people will understand and support such decisions. While there may be political resistance, your credibility and direct connect with the public can help navigate that.

You have the potential to remain at the center of power and influence for the next few decades. Personally, I see your movement growing far beyond the borders of Tamil Nadu.

A leader who receives this much love from people carries a rare responsibility — not just to govern, but to redefine politics itself.
