The @DRDO_India has successfully conducted the maiden flight test of Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile Kusha today from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

Kusha missile system is capable of neutralising wide variety of aerial threats including fighter jets, missiles, UAVs and large enemy aircrafts within a wide range and altitude envelope.

Today’s successful test flight of Kusha marks an important milestone in Indian defence R&D. The capability in developing long range surface-to-air missile system is possessed only by a handful of nations. This will also eliminate the import dependency for such systems and signifies a giant leap in air defence capability of the nation. I congratulate DRDO and other stakeholders for this achievement.

The corridor mixes 🇯🇵 Japanese Shinkansen technology with strong Indian efforts and is already moving fast.

🇮🇳 India plans to start partial services by 2027 using locally made high-speed trainsets built at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai with help from BEML, plus advanced parts from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

This smart approach saves money and builds skills right here at home.

🇯🇵 Former Japanese minister Hideki Makihara got upset and sharply said India showed “gross negligence,” doesn’t keep promises, and that the minister in charge was “especially awful,” blaming India 100% for the delays.

But India explains the main problems came from land issues under previous governments, and now things are picking up speed.

🚨 INDIAN NAVY PLANS MAJOR ₹1 LAKH CRORE WARSHIP PUSH.

India is preparing one of its biggest naval build‑ups in years. The Navy is set to roll out three major indigenous warship projects worth up to ₹1 lakh crore. These include four Project 15C destroyers, six Project 17B stealth frigates, and six Project 18A large surface combatants. Together, they will form the backbone of India’s future surface fleet and boost maritime strength in the Indo‑Pacific.

Project 15C aims to deliver next‑generation guided‑missile destroyers with advanced sensors, stronger air‑defence systems, and upgraded electronic warfare tools. Project 17B will add six stealth frigates split between MDL and GRSE, expanding India’s shipbuilding capacity. The most ambitious, Project 18A, will produce some of India’s largest combat vessels—14,000 to 15,000‑tonne ships built for long‑range missions and heavy strike capability.

These projects mark a major step in India’s push for self‑reliance under Aatmanirbhar Bharat. They also reflect rising strategic competition in the Indo‑Pacific, where India aims to strengthen its presence and modernize its fleet for future challenges.

Significant news for Vizhinjam: @AdaniPorts has signed a $2.85 bn agreement with MSC's Terminal Investment Ltd, the world's largest container line, for a 49% stake in AVPPL, the single largest foreign private investment in Indian port infrastructure . #Vizhinjam Port crossed 2 million TEUs in just 18 months; this should accelerate Phase 2 and cement its place as a global transshipment hub.

My reaction as MP for this port constituency: more cargo, more capacity, more jobs for Kerala. But a transaction of this scale involving a strategic asset deserves due diligence, not just applause. Under the concession agreement, any change of ownership above 25% requires the Govt of Kerala's prior approval, rightly so since the port is built largely on state government land and Vizhinjam is located on a major global shipping lane.

That approval can only come after a review that ensures standard national-security/critical-infra checks, It’s important that Vizhinjam stays a non-discriminatory, common-user port for other shipping companies; it must offer fair access and tariffs for rival shipping lines even as MSC, its biggest potential customer, becomes a part-owner.

Done right, this cements Vizhinjam's future, to Kerala's lasting benefit. I'll continue engaging with the State Government and the AVPPL on this.
