Subhash Chandra, who has publicly acknowledged his family’s deep roots in the RSS, had ₹22,006 crore in creditor claims settled for a mere ₹6.5 crore.

That is roughly 3 paise per ₹100.

If only such systemic leniency were extended to the roughly 73,683 farmers who have committed suicide after being trapped in the government-policy driven cycle of debt in Maharashtra, and the over 250,000 farmers across India in the last 20 years. That is roughly 10 suicides per day in Maharashtra and 34 per day nationwide!

We live in a country where the enormous debts of the super-rich, friends of the government, can be restructured, written down, or settled for a fraction, while the debts of farmer becomes a death sentence.

Tomorrow, as we celebrate India’s Independence Day, it is worth remembering the history of our Indian flag 🇮🇳 , and those who once opposed it.

On August 14, 1947, the RSS mouthpiece Organiser published a scathing editorial declaring that Indian flag will "never be respected and owned by the Hindus. The word three is in itself an evil, and a flag having three colours will certainly produce a very bad psychological effect and is injurious to a country."

For over 50 years following independence, the RSS refused to hoist or salute the Indian flag at their headquarters in Nagpur, instead giving prominence to its own Bhagwa Dhwaj.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar played an instrumental role in shaping modern India's constitutional and national identity, including the adoption of the Ashoka Chakra on the Indian flag and Ashoka’s Lion Capital as the National Emblem.

Babasaheb later explained the significance of these symbols.
“Even though Buddhism is almost extinct in India, yet it has given birth to a culture, which is far better and richer than the Brahminic culture. When the question of the national flag and the national emblem was being considered by the Constituent Assembly we could not find any suitable symbol from the Brahminic culture. Ultimately, the Buddhist culture came to our rescue and we accepted the Wheel of Law (Dhamma-Chakra) as the national symbol.”

So, as we celebrate Independence Day, let us remember history honestly. The Indian flag that we proudly salute today was rejected by the RSS, and the symbols of Ashoka and Dhamma that define our modern identity were championed by Babasaheb.

दिल्लीतील विद्यार्थ्यांवर झालेल्या अत्याचारा विरोधात फक्त 48 तासात महाराष्ट्र बंदच्या आवाहनाला प्रचंड प्रतिसाद राज्यातील जनतेने दिला, त्याबद्दल आभार.

मुंबई, नागपूर, पुणे, नांदेड, लातूर, कोल्हापूर, उस्मानाबाद, गोंदिया, गडचिरोली, भंडारा, जळगाव, नाशिक या जिल्ह्यांसह राज्यातील सर्व जिल्ह्यांनी सरकार विरोधात आपला राग व्यक्त केला. यातून केंद्र सरकार बोध घेईल ही अपेक्षा!

या महाराष्ट्र बंदला पाठिंबा देणारे काँग्रेस, डावे पक्ष, सामाजिक संघटना यातील लोकं सहभागी झाले. त्यांनीही यात मेहनत घेतली.

NEET परीक्षेत केंद्रसरकारने जो अभूतपूर्व गोंधळ घातला आणि त्याने विद्यार्थ्यांचं अपरिमित नुकसान झालं त्या विरोधात देशभर आंदोलन सुरु आहे. त्या आंदोलनाला चिरडण्याचा सरकारचा सर्वतोपरी प्रयत्न सुरु आहे. त्याविरोधात आज मी आणि शिवसेना पक्षप्रमुख श्री. उद्धव ठाकरे यांनी एक संयुक्त पत्रकार परिषद घेतली.
पदावर बसलेल्या व्यक्तीने झालेल्या चुकांची जबाबदारी घ्यायची असते आणि जर भारतीय जनता पक्षाने विरोधात असताना तत्कालीन सरकारच्या मंत्र्यांचे राजीनामे मागितले होते मग आता भारतीय जनता पक्षाने स्वतःच्या मंत्र्यांचा राजीनामा घ्यायला हवा. आम्ही कोणाशी बोलणार नाही, कुठलंही आंदोलन झालं तर आंदोलनकर्त्यांशी बोलणार नाही, हा सत्तेचा उद्दामपणा आहे. या आंदोलनाला पाठींबा देण्यासाठी येत्या २६ जुलै २०२६ ला सकाळी १० वाजता आम्ही मुंबईतील छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज उद्यान येथील महाराजांच्या पुतळ्यापासून ते सिद्धिविनायक असा मोर्चा काढणार आहोत. हा मोर्चा अराजकीय असेल, या मोर्च्यात कुठल्याच पक्षाचे झेंडे असणार नाहीत. या मोर्च्यात विद्यार्थी सामील होतीलच पण त्यांच्या पालकांनी पण सामील व्हावे ही मनापासून विनंती. हा प्रश्न एका परीक्षेचा नाही तर ज्या पद्धतीने विद्यार्थ्यांच्या भविष्याशी खेळलं जातं आहे त्याच्या विरोधात आवाज उठवण्यासाठी हा मोर्चा आहे.

Maharashtra Bandh 23rd July

@VBAforIndia has called for a Maharashtra Bandh on 23rd July against the brutal use of state force and violence by the @BJP4India against the students.

The use of tear gas, water cannons and piked- batons on students demanding justice reveals the authoritarian & fascist face of the Govt.

In support of these students and to protest this brutal police repression, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has called for a complete #MaharashtraBandh on 23rd July.

Even if @VBAforIndia’s called for the Bandh, I appeal to all like-minded parties, organisations, student unions, citizens, students and parents to make this bandh a grand success.

This battle isn’t simply a battle for demanding accountability , it is a battle to protect the future of our country.

दिल्लीमध्ये विद्यार्थी उपोषणाला बसले होते. त्यांचा भवितव्याचा प्रश्न होता, त्यासाठी ते लढत होते. नीट पेपर फुटीमुळे परीक्षा पुन्हा घेण्यात आल्या. त्यातही मोठा घोळ झाला. यातील विद्यार्थ्यांची एवढीच मागणी होती की, शिक्षणमंत्री आणि ज्यांनी पेपर फोडला त्यांच्यावर कारवाई करा. सरकारने त्यांच्यावर कारवाई केलीच नाही मात्र, विद्यार्थ्यांवर आरएसएस-भाजपने अमानुषपणे कारवाई केली.

या घटने विरोधात वंचित बहुजन आघाडीने 23 जुलै रोजी 'महाराष्ट्र बंद'ची हाक दिली आहे. सर्व पालकांना विनंती आहे की, हा लढा आपल्या मुलांच्या भवितव्याचा आहे.

23 जुलै रोजी आपण मुलांना शाळेत न पाठवून आपला निषेध व्यक्त करावा आणि या 'महाराष्ट्र बंद'ला सहकार्य करावे.

आपल्या न्यायासाठी लढणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्यांवर बेछूट अश्रू धुराचा, लाठ्या काठ्यांचा वापर केंद्र सरकारच्या हुकूमशाही वृत्तीचे दर्शन घडवतो.

या विद्यार्थ्यांच्या समर्थनार्थ आणि पोलिसांच्या या दडपशाहीचा निषेध करण्यासाठी 'वंचित बहुजन आघाडी'ने २३ जुलै रोजी 'महाराष्ट्र बंद'ची हाक दिली आहे.

यात पुढाकार जरी वंचित बहुजन आघाडीने घेतला असला, तरी सर्व समविचारी संघटना, पक्ष, विद्यार्थी संघटना, सामान्य नागरिक, विद्यार्थी, पालकांनी यात सहभागी व्हावे. हा लढा फक्त तुमचा किंवा आमचा नाहीये तर आपल्या देशातील भविष्याचा आहे.

I strongly condemn the violence carried out by the @DelhiPolice at Jantar Mantar.
While the Police shamelessly claimed that there was no violence, there is enough evidence to show otherwise.

Protests have always been an important political tool to demonstrate dissent in a democracy, and such protests should be met by discussions with concerned leaders rather than state brutality.

@BJP4India has yet again demonstrated that they are hell bent fracturing our democracy and crushing the values upheld by our constitution.

जिन लोगों को पुलिस माँ की गालियां दे रही हैं, बेरहमी से सड़क पर घसीट रही है और लठिया बरसा रही है, वे भारत देश के छात्र हैं, देश के युवा हैं, और 'जन-गण-मन' का जन है।

आज जो मिडिल-क्लास की आँख खुली है, तो शायद इसलिए कि उन्हें पहली बार एहसास हुआ है कि यह सरकार उनकी भी नहीं है और सरकार उनके बच्चों को भी नहीं बख्शेगी। लेकिन यह एहसास बहुत देर से आया है।

इतने सालों से इस देश के दलित, आदिवासी और माइनॉरिटी गला फाड़-फाड़कर अपनी आवाज़ उठा रहे थे। वे सवाल पूछ रहे थे, संविधान और अपने अधिकारों की बात कर रहे थे, सड़कों पर आंदोलन कर रहे थे।

जब दलितों, आदिवासियों और माइनॉरिटीज़ को लिंच किया जा रहा था, उनके घरों पर बुलडोज़र चलाए जा रहे थे, उन्हें निशाना बनाया जा रहा था और उनकी आवाज़ को दबाया जा रहा था, तब अगर मिडिल-क्लास ने उनके साथ खड़े होकर सवाल पूछे होते, तो शायद आज यह स्थिति देखने की नौबत नहीं आती।

अन्याय कभी सिर्फ़ एक समुदाय तक सीमित नहीं रहता। जब आप दूसरों के अधिकारों पर होते हमलों पर चुप रहते हैं, तो वही ख़ामोशी सत्ता को और बेलगाम बना देती है। आज जो अन्याय उनके साथ हो रहा है, कल वही आपके दरवाज़े पर भी दस्तक देता है।
