@khabrimishra Hospitals are high capex buisness. Even to built a tertiary 70 bed hospital in a tier 3 city, capital requirement goes >100 cr. That is 1 cr+ per bed. Then come even higher operational costs. Most corporate hospitals run on narrow EBITDA margin compared to capex & opex.

@drvarunpain Nope. Stent costs max 40k. Proffesional fee is 25% approx of package.
Remaining bill is made through consumables, Ix, medicines, bed charges etc. Its the margin here which translates to profit which is not too much given the fact that hospitals are high capex buisness.

@drprashantmish6 @themahavir No doubt hospitals increased prices of other components to compensate govt. price capping on stents but it still lowered cost to significant extent.
Today angioplasty can be done withing 2 lakh, but earlier some hospitals used to charge 5 lakh for just stent only.

Stent component is still capped at 10k for bare metal stents & 38k for DES.
2 lac+ is usually the cost of complete package which includes components other than stents like profession fee of doc., consumables, Ix, bed charges etc.

@Ashneer_Grover BS!! That 8000 crore subsidy was not 1 year but it was disimbursed over 4 yrs & it not just included UPI but also rupay CC transactions. Second, this subsidy was not meant to be given to NPCI directly, rather it was given to recipient's bank first & then it went to UPI entities.
