Mocking our dead?

Ireland was forced to fight a war of independence to finally get rid of British interference. An overseas administration ruling by force was responsible for anything between 2-4 million excess Irish deaths by that point.

Every democratic attempt for Home Rule was denied, 1886, 1893, then held up in 1914 before a 1918 majority sought total separation.

Despite a democratically mandated bid for freedom, Britian denied Irelands will. In a bloody war British forces were responsible for more civilian deaths than any other side. Close to 400.
British troops burned the city of Cork, one of many atrocities against civilians ⬇️

That is not ‘Irish violence’ - that is a millennia old identity finally getting out from under the boot of Empire, with a democratic mandate to do so.

As for the Congo, 11 Irish soldiers were attacked while on their peacekeeping mission, being ambushed unexpectedly. 9 were killed. They were UN peacekeepers
