My mother, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, has responded to the call of Almighty Allah and left us today. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return).
To many, she was the leader of the nation, an uncompromising leader, the Mother of Democracy, the Mother of Bangladesh. Today, the country mourns the loss of a guiding presence that shaped its democratic aspirations.
To me, Khaleda Zia was a tender and loving mother who devoted her entire life to the country and its people. Throughout her life, she stood firm against autocracy, fascism, and domination, leading the struggle for freedom, sovereignty, and the restoration of democracy.
Though her life was illuminated by sacrifice and struggle, at home she was our truest guardian, a mother whose infinite love gave us strength in our darkest moments. She endured repeated arrests, denial of medical care, and relentless persecution. Yet even in pain, confinement, and uncertainty, she never stopped sheltering her family with courage and compassion. Her resilience was not loud, but it was unbreakable.
For the country, she lost her husband; she lost her child. In that loss, this nation and its people became her family, her purpose, her very soul. She leaves behind an unforgettable legacy of patriotism, sacrifice, and resistance, a legacy that will live on in the democratic conscience of Bangladesh.
I ask you all to pray for my mother. For the profound emotion, love, and respect shown by the people of this country and by the world, my family and I remain eternally grateful.
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.
My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.
I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered today in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, to join the #MarchforGaza organized by the Palestine Solidarity Movement.
Bangladesh: @UNHumanRights report finds serious, systematic human rights violations and abuses — including extrajudicial killings and torture — were committed during last year’s student-led protests.

Every year The Economist picks what we consider to be the most improved nation, for its “country of the year” award. This year the winner is Bangladesh. Our foreign editor, Patrick Foulis, congratulated its interim leader, Muhammad Yunus https://t.co/ACI7hA1vQi
A Doctor sold his house to a fellow Doctor… why on earth would that lead to a massive protest / uproar in a posh housing society in Moradabad??
Well because the DOCTOR who bought the house is a Muslim and that will lead to ‘security concerns’ say residents.
Welcome to #NewIndia
Clip of three Muslim children being bashed & being forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ now going viral in Bangladesh…. With calls for UN Peacekeepers being sent to India to protect minority community in the country.🤦🏻
India is the world's biggest source of misinformation! Compared to that, Bangladesh has almost no misinformation at all. Let’s forgive them—they defecate on the streets, consume lies as truth, and dance in the name of blind faith. Let’s be better, let’s act better!
For those in #Bangladesh who see the country as simply a Bengali muslim country, this is a good reminder that it is diverse with significant minorities that should not be forgotten when it comes to political representation. A historic moment for Bangladesh. We've got a #NobelPrize winner, @Yunus_Centre as our interim PM. The advisors are really promising. Their first task is to get back the law and order into track. Let's hope for the best!

The big difference. 🇮🇳🇧🇩
The majority Muslims are protecting minority Hindu temples by guarding them in Bangladesh.
while,
The majority Hindus are vandalizing and demolishing minority Muslim mosques in India.
Key organisers of Bangladesh’s student protests have said Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus should head an interim gov't after longtime PM Sheikh Hasina resigned https://t.co/8sMY2fR1YG
Not only temples, Bangladeshis are guarding Hindu properties.
Hindus are at risk from the Fascist Hasina’s scheme to vandalise so that they can share this propaganda and instigate a civil war. One of her very old games!

One of the greatest pains in my life in recent years was not being able to publicly disclose that the son of Mir Quasem Ali, the @BJI_Official leader who had been sentenced to death by the highly controversial International Crimes Tribunal set up by Hasina's regime, and Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, a former military general and the son of Ghulam Azam, former Jamaat-e-Islami chief who had been sentenced to life by the same court — are alive.
Both men were the worst victims of the nuisance that was enforced disappearance, introduced by the Sheikh Hasina regime. The two men were abducted by plainclothes policemen in August 2016 and were kept at a secret detention centre in Dhaka called #Aynaghar since then. They were never presented before the court and their families had no contact with them. Every time someone I knew spotted the two men in Aynaghar, which was located at the premises of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Bangladesh's defence forces' intelligence branch, I would inform Mr Arman’s sister and Mr Azmi’s brother that they were alive. The last I heard of them was in May last year.
This morning, I woke up to the news that the two men had been reunited with their families after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. How cruel do you have to be to detain these people for close to a decade needlessly? Endlessly. I truly believe that Sheikh Hasina will go down in the annals as one of the most brutal dictators of the modern era with Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Kim Jong-il and Omar al-Bashir.
No country in the world should grant political asylum to such a person who has committed such atrocities, such grave crimes against humanity. She should be brought back to Bangladesh and brought to trial for all her crimes and treasons — fair and square.

This is an outrageous propaganda by radical Hindutvawadis who align with Hasina. When an Awami goon, who happens to be Hindu, faces retaliation for their atrocities against the people, they project their Hindu identity. Hasina has killed more than 10 Hindu students during the first spell of protest, and a Hindu child was shot from a helicopter. I urge everyone to keep an eye on the Awami League's malicious tactics, which they have mastered well.
