A 3D printed model of the pathology and resection planes were used to fulfil these two conditions
1. Know the exact spread of the tumour for precise incisions and cut sections for removal purpose.
2. Achieve ideal osteotomy to eradicate the tumour with minimal bone loss.
To study and pre-plan for the surgery of fractured nasal bone and orbital floor, the team used a 3D printed model. The pathology 3D model, along with the soft tissue, was beneficial in understanding the anatomy and spatial relationship, along with reducing OT time.

An osteotomy was to be performed, using the fibula, for the tumour affected mandible. The fibula was segmented and then arranged on the cut section of the mandible to replicate it. To perform this, cutting guides were provided for a precise osteotomy.

The medical team was able to achieve clarity with the help of 3D printed model in the case of kidney tumour. They were not sure whether half of the affected kidney could be saved by performing partial Nephrectomy but 3D model guided them in showing it was achievable.
