I communicate science through illustration and design.

Creating health literacy about Autoimmune Encephalitis with visuals
One of the major challenges facing science communication is engaging society on scientific topics. At this year’s SciComm Conference, PhD researcher Ana Vasconcelos presented research on improving science communication using a participatory design approach https://t.co/VZIQ5qIDgo
Had a great time today giving a workshop on visual sciecomm, this time for participants in the @LeidenU Summer School Science Communication!
Thank you for the invitation @sanneromp20! It's always a great opportunity to come back and enjoy the Netherlands a bit more! 💛
Today at #scicommsw24 I got the opportunity to present my ongoing PhD project about co-designing infographics to communicate about #autoimmune#encephalitis!
Lots of interesting presentations and discussions about participatory research, co-design and inclusion! ✨

Have you been affected by autoimmune encephalitis or are you a clinician with experience of autoimmune #encephalitis?
If yes, please consider taking a few minutes to fill in the below questionnaire

It's finally here! A children's book about "How babies are made" that I had the pleasure of illustrating!
It will be available in bookshops after its launch on 1 June at the Lisbon Book Fair. 🎉
Scientists from @UnivdeCoimbra will receive over 90,000 euros in funding from @ChanZuckerberg to study the mechanisms of neuronal death in anti-IgLON5, a rare autoimmune disease with a high mortality rate. 🧠

Tonight, the tower of the University of Coimbra is in red for #WorldEncephalitisDay!
A very special day to create awareness about #encephalitis, which is also one of the goals of my PhD project in visual scicomm and health literacy.

Fun project: An IKEA manual on "How to build a visual abstract" for scientists interested in communicating their research.
I created this as part of a group project for the Summer Course Scicomm organised by the Science Communication and Society Department at @LeidenU.
Check out the latest issue of BrainStorm, the neuroscience student journal from UBordeaux, with a beautiful cover art done by the amazing @anav_sciart ! Also, congrats @_neuronhub and others for the initiative.
Great experience collaborating with @_neuronhub to design the cover art of BrainStorm, a neuroscience student journal of the university of Bordeaux.
This was my first experience designing a cover art and I'm quite happy with the final result! 🎨
The last issue of the first run of @Sci_BrainStorm is finally out! This project that was so uncertain about a year ago eventually took shape!
