ANCA-WR Summer Interns joined the campers of Week D up at AYF Camp, ensuring that our next generation of advocates understand the importance of their community involvement.
Through workshops, simulations, and open discussion, interns enabled campers to understand their role within the Diaspora through a more intimate lens.
Today, this summer's @ANCA_DC interns toured our sister studio, @BigWhigMedia ! Fun fact: President @KeithNahigian began his DC career as an intern at the Armenian National Assembly, our firm is honored to help elevate and educate the next generation of young D.C. professionals.
MEP @MavridesCostas, after 15 years in Parliament, said it's now hard to describe EU-Azerbaijan policy "in purely diplomatic terms."
The European Commission has the tools. It's chosen not to use them. #ANCWorldwide#Artsakh
IPHR's Simon Papuashvili went further: release should be a precondition for peace, with EU benchmarks, deadlines - and sanctions on Azerbaijani officials tied to torture and arbitrary detention if Baku doesn't comply. "Peace cannot be credible while Armenian captives remain imprisoned."
"The unlawful detention and convictions of Armenian prisoners are not merely a human rights issue, but a defining test of Europe's ability to uphold the rule of law." - Siranush Sahakyan, @ALC_JHR Exec. Director & ECHR counsel for Armenian detainees
"I want my grandfather to come home."
That's what the granddaughter of Armenian hostage - former Artsakh Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan - said when asked what she wanted for her birthday.
He and at least 19 others have been illegally imprisoned and tortured in Azerbaijan for over 1,000 days. At a European Parliament conference facilitated by @eafjd this week, MEPs and legal experts called for EU sanctions and firm deadlines to force their release.

The ANCA thanks @RepMarcyKaptur (D-OH) for cosponsoring the Armenian Genocide Education Act (H.R.2585) - bipartisan legislation directing the Library of Congress to implement a nationwide Armenian Genocide education program to teach the truth about this still-unpunished crime against humanity.

Azerbaijani bribes to the most corrupt Member of Congress, @RepCuellar - in the most competitive race in the country, TX-28 - may well determine control of the US House.

A clear message from HALC's @Zemenides. Gifting #Turkey F-35s is a dangerous strategic mistake that will undermine US interests.
There's only one decision to be made here, @POTUS: #NoJetsForTurkey
Instead of lowering costs for the American people, President Trump wants to bring a gift bag of F-35 jets to curry favor with the Turkish dictator.
This 'strong-man' alliance does not make America stronger. Turkey is not our ally, and with the Iran War, we need to take care of our own supply of materials right now.

This week, I attended the 49th Annual Navasartian Games & Festival in Van Nuys, where we celebrated Armenian culture and connected with families, community leaders, and local organizations. Thank you to everyone who made this celebration possible.
At the same time Henry Cuellar was taking bribes from foreign interests and getting away with it, he was scamming his own district and the leaders back home. Like a lot of people, I gave him the benefit of the doubt at first. But I didn't buy it for long, and I've been pointing out the truth ever since.
No amount of DCCC spin can change Henry Cuellar's record. For years he's run a family-first political operation: he was indicted, his brother was indicted for siphoning profits off more than $500,000 in government contracts, and Cuellar even funneled his own campaign money into his brother's runs for Webb County Sheriff. He also took and then re-donated campaign contributions tied to a criminal connected to cartels and Mexican politicians. After two decades in Washington, Henry Cuellar has been looking out for his family and himself, not the families of South Texas.
