The association between #hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and major major congenital #malformations was examined in systemic #lupus erythematosus (SLE) and #rheumatoid#arthritis (RA) pregnancies in Sweden; this population-based cohort study included 1007 births (453 exposed) and 2500 births (144 exposed) in the SLE and RA cohorts, respectively. First-trimester HCQ exposure was not significantly associated with malformations, with no clear malformation patterns observed. Results remained similar when considering HCQ use before pregnancy and/or varying malformation assessment periods. These findings confirm that HCQ's benefits may outweigh the risks in managing SLE or RA during #pregnancy.
