I have a genetic condition called neurofibromatosis and one of the symptoms is tumor growths on nerves. I once went to the ER and said I had one on my neck. Doc laughed and said it was a pimple but he’d remove it, a half hour later—scalpel in my neck—he admited it was a tumor.
