Born and raised in Anchorage. Abolish zoning. Abolish height limits. Abolish parking mandates. Abolish aesthetic bldg codes. Homes are more important than vibes
@sam_d_1995 I actually have a view of the Mayor Wright Homes site from my workplace (the block that the buses are next to). That rounded corner building will be spared as itโs not part of the project.
How does Alaska Airlines get their customers hyped on their upcoming trip to Anchorage? By showing off one of the city's densest neighborhoods (yup i was just hit with the email again). If one side of the current debate got their way, this neighborhood wouldn't exist today.
@LyndonTucker@StatisticUrban Ah yes, because of course if HK only allowed single family homes and golf courses, a lot of land would be untouched, as HK could only grow horizontally, thus reducing its footprint.
@Swolan368565@StatisticUrban Considering youโre a white supremicist living in Florida, this explains your take that suburbs are better for the environment. Youโre such a pathetic idiot ๐
The first three towers of the Senฬรกแธตw in Vancouver.
A major Indigenous-led, multi-tower residential and commercial development project by the Squamish Nation located on ancestral reserve land. Meaning "the place inside the head of False Creek."
@ClerkNPC@sam_d_1995 What are you expecting? People in tuxedos with their monocles on and butlers beside them? I see you donโt personally know any rich person.
@sam_d_1995@YIMBYLAND Thanks for posting thisโit was surprising to see this photo proliferate through my feed with everyone giving their personal take but nobody acknowledging that the project will go through. Without that explanation, the narrative was this project didnโt stand a chance.
Car dependency enforces a kind of psychological captivity where the car is seen as essential for daily survival. Just as captives begin to see their captors as protectors rather than oppressors, people in car-centric environments often view their vehicles as indispensable allies.
The car, much like a captor, dictates the terms of daily life, influencing where people live, how they work, and even how they socialize. The captive becomes conditioned to see their situation not just as normal, but as necessary for their well-being.
We're all Patty Hearst now.
Iโve clearly lost track of time as I had no idea the Senakw towers in Van were already being completed. Whatโs more exciting is that the three completed towers are just the stumps โ the much taller towers rounding out the 11-tower development are coming.
