War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal. No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures. May diplomacy silence the weapons! May nations chart their futures with works of peace, not with violence and bloodstained conflicts!
While I'm disappointed by the City Council's decision… I will continue to lead and serve with integrity, focused on building a more respectful, united Jacksonville because our community deserves better than division.
Council meeting next Tue 5p
Whether I am confirmed or not, we must keep speaking out against misinformation, bullying, & intimidation. We may not be able to stop bad people from doing bad things, but we can’t let bad people stop us from doing good things! https://t.co/CbXcRn7FRE
@carolinatabby I’m grateful Tia and I had a chance to sit down after the meeting on Monday for a one on one, long overdue conversation. I gave her my number- I hope she reaches out to connect again. We may not see everything the same but she’s a tough mama and I can respect that.
Regardless of politics, I am committed to building bridges of understanding & fostering mutual respect. When we allow hateful rhetoric to take the place of honest dialogue, when we reward bullying over merit, we chip away at the very fabric of a healthy democracy.
Let’s do better
If we want good people to continue serving on our volunteer boards, we’ve got to be better. I’ve watched with dismay the attacks on Elizabeth Andersen, a lifelong public servant who I appointed to the library board. The attacks are personal, fabricated and unacceptable.
I believe we can rise above partisanship and model the kind of respectful engagement we want our children to inherit. I will continue to work every day to create that kind of community. I remain committed to serving Jacksonville with compassion, honesty, and resolve.

Today we honor the memory of Angela Carr, AJ Laguerre, & Jerrald Gallion. One year ago, a gunman fueled by hate, stole their lives at a Dollar General store on the Northside.
We lift up the survivors & community that continue to suffer from the terror & tragedy. #onejax
