Every Dime in your pocket belongs to someone else: MTN, Airtel, Samsung, your landlord, Dangote, the greedy Nigerian police, the Coca-Cola company, the beer compaines, the transport companies, e. t.c and that's not bad, but the main question is - WHO IS PAYING - YOU?
BUSTED!!!
Attn, Governor @m_akpakomiza
This is the sobering reality of Uokha Grammar School, located in Uokha, Owan East LGA, Edo State. A school is meant to be a sanctuary of safety, dignity, and hope. Yet, what we see here is the exact opposite: dilapidated classroom blocks, a severe lack of furniture, and vulnerable children reduced to sitting or lying on the bare floor just to learn. This is not a functioning learning environment; it is public neglect made visible.
Pupils and teachers cannot be expected to thrive or deliver quality education in crumbling spaces that offer zero comfort and no basic protection from the elements.
The state of this institution raises a profound question about governance priorities. If education is truly championed as the foundation of development, why are the children of Uokha still studying on the floor in 2026?
Public records show that the Edo State Government received approximately ₦116.89 billion in gross FAAC allocation between January and June 2026, alongside another ₦28.36 billion in July 2026 alone.
These substantial figures make this structural failure incredibly difficult to defend. The revenue is flowing into the state, yet these classrooms remain broken. Rural schools cannot continue to exist as an afterthought while innocent children pay the ultimate price with their health, their concentration, and their collective future.
Immediate, urgent intervention is required. This turnaround must include the complete renovation of these dilapidated classroom blocks, the rapid provision of functional desks and chairs, the rehabilitation of hygienic toilets, and a thorough clean-up of the entire school environment. Both students and teachers deserve to work in safety and peace.
We are calling directly on the @EdoStateGovt the Ministry of Education, the relevant state education boards, and the elected representatives of Owan East LGA to visit Uokha Grammar School without delay and commence comprehensive repairs.
Access to a proper school is not an act of charity; it is a fundamental constitutional duty.
Fix Uokha Grammar School now. Give these children the classrooms, the furniture, and the reason to believe their state actually values their future. #FixPublicSchools
SHOCKING!!!
Dear Governor @SimFubaraKSC & @GovWike
Man Slams Rivers State Govt Over Dilapidated Community School
A concerned citizen has raised the alarm over the terrible condition of a public community school in Rivers State, questioning how children can be expected to learn effectively in an environment that appears unsafe, neglected and unfit for learning.
In a video circulating online, the man draws attention to the deplorable state of the school and calls on the authorities to take urgent action. The condition shown raises serious questions about the quality of infrastructure available to children in communities that depend on public education.
Monitng is calling on the Rivers State Government to urgently investigate the situation and provide details of the school’s location, ownership, current status and any budgetary provision made for its rehabilitation. If public funds have already been allocated to address the school’s condition, the government should also provide clarity on when the intervention was approved, whether work has commenced and when pupils can expect a safe learning environment.
This concern is particularly important given the resources available to Rivers State. The state’s 2026 budget projects ₦936.05 billion in FAAC receipts, including derivation, while ₦315 billion was allocated to educational development.
Rivers is also an oil-producing state and therefore receives a share of the constitutional 13% derivation from revenue accruing to the Federation Account from natural resources.
With such significant public resources and a substantial education allocation, communities are entitled to ask why children are still learning in schools that are reportedly in such poor condition.
We are therefore calling on the Rivers State Government, the relevant local government authority and the Federal Government, through the appropriate education agencies, to urgently intervene.
The children in these communities deserve classrooms that are safe, functional and conducive to learning. Public education infrastructure should not be allowed to deteriorate to the point where the safety and future of pupils are placed at risk.
Monitng is asking the authorities to identify the school, disclose any existing intervention plans and provide a clear timeline for rehabilitation.
Education is not just a budget line. It is an investment in the future of the children of Rivers State.
