The defeat against Israel hurts, but it was absolutely deserved.
Albania were the better side in the first half and created enough chances to take control of the game, but the lack of finishing quality once again proved costly. The second half followed a familiar and frustrating pattern: endless crosses from the right, forcing attacks down the left, misplaced passes, slow build-up play, and very little creativity.
Tactically, it looked more like a 4-4-2. Hoxha started on the left but stayed wide, while Laçi was nominally on the right yet constantly drifted inside. This often left Elseid Hysaj responsible for providing width on the right and delivering crosses into the box. Most of Albania’s danger came from the left, where Anis Mehmeti and Hoxha repeatedly cut inside, using their dribbling ability and curling shots. Israel quickly adjusted after halftime, neutralized those movements, and Albania struggled to create anything meaningful afterwards.
With both Hoxha and Mehmeti occupying similar spaces on the left, Mitaj was far less involved offensively than he should have been.
Another issue was the positioning of the midfield. Laçi, Ramadani, and Asllani played slightly higher than we were used to under Sylvinho. This created larger gaps in front of the defence, and once Manor Solomon broke through that midfield line, he was able to attack dangerous spaces with far too much freedom.
Kristjan Asllani had a poor game. Unfortunately, his development seems to have stalled over the last few years.
Laçi was simply disastrous. Time and again he killed promising attacks with poor decisions and execution.
The introductions of Bajrami, Hasa, and Pajaziti brought more energy and movement, but the quality in the final third was still missing.
Albania also have a serious striker problem. Daku provides physical presence but offers very little movement without the ball. Broja does many things well, yet he currently lacks the confidence in front of goal. Shpendi has potential, but at this level he still seems to be missing the physicality required.
It’s not the start anyone wanted. Albania need more movement in midfield, more presence inside the opposition box, and above all, more creativity.
Hello everyone
My friend @AndiKasmi will be in the USA during the World Cup. As he works as a freelance journalist and has no agency or sponsorship, he is relying on the community for support. His goal is to raise €3,000 so that he can report for us right up to the World Cup semi-finals.
He is grateful for any help and for every contribution you can make.
One of the best albanian football journalists and experts! Let’s support the lad!

Berisha showed his skills during both legs against Hajduk Split last August in the Conference League. Dinamo are missing a proper centre-forward; a player they already had and sent on loan.
🇽🇰⚽ Hekuran Berisha (20/ST) scored his fifth goal of the season in Kosovo today after joining on loan from Dinamo City in the winter. Just like Van Basten!
Yet another example, however, that even a highly regarded manager like Ilir Daja is a complete coward in Albania when it comes to fielding young players. Dinamo City signed Hekuran Berisha in the summer and presented him as a top signing but Ilir Daja did not want to rely on him and instead demanded Guindo from Egnatia. Guindo arrived and has only managed to score four goals so far as a starter with Dinamo City.
Unfortunately, with this kind of mindset in Albanian football, there will be no progress.
Utmost respect for Anis Mehmeti.
Not called up in 3 years despite being one of the most in-form and most valuable players.
No stupid interviews. No family members talking shit. No bullshit.
Hard work. Results. Back to being called up again.
Time to shine🤩
🇦🇱 The Albania Senior Squad List is Out!
Coach Sylvinho has announced his selections for the upcoming matches! Some big returns and defensive reinforcements highlight this latest call-up.
🆕 New Faces
Bujar Pllana – Lechia Gdańsk 🇵🇱

🔄 The Returns
Great news for the attack as Anis Mehmeti and Ernest Muçi are finally back in the squad! Their creativity has been missed.
📋 Key Details & Tactical Questions
This list is very interesting, especially regarding the center-forward position. With both Manaj and Daku out due to injury, Sylvinho hasn't called up a "traditional" target man.
Broja has mostly been used on the wing under Sylvinho and Uzuni isn't exactly the physical striker who holds up the ball and dominates the box.
The Strategy: It will be fascinating to see how we set up tactically. Will we see a "False 9" system or will one of the wingers be forced to adapt to a central role?
How do you think Sylvinho will set up the attack without a natural striker?

E há um detalhe que quase passa despercebido: ninguém corre para celebrar com o Aursnes.

An Albanian on a Mission to Dethrone the Old Firm!
An unlikely challenger has emerged in Scotland, and he’s flying the Albanian flag. Meet Sabah Kerjota — the 24-year-old winger who has gone from Italy’s Serie D to the heart of a title fight with Heart of Midlothian FC, aiming to break the long-standing dominance of Rangers and Celtic.
Kerjota’s rise has been rapid. Since arriving in Edinburgh, the Albanian wide man has already featured in 11 matches, delivering one crucial assist as Hearts keep pace at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Before his move north, Kerjota spent the majority of his senior career in Italy, steadily building his reputation. His breakout campaign came last season with US Sambenedettese, where he was nothing short of electric — 10 goals and 11 assists in 34 appearances, playing a key role in the club’s promotion to Serie C.
Now, the winger finds himself on a much bigger stage. From Italy’s lower leagues to one of Europe’s most passionate footballing nations, Kerjota is embracing the challenge — fighting for a league title and daring to end the Old Firm’s reign.
From Serie D to a Scottish title race, Sabah Kerjota’s story is only just beginning.
