Instead, Kyiv was offered to replace the document with a softened statement — in which clear sympathies for Russia are evident. In the alternative resolution, it does not state who the aggressor is, and references to Ukraine’s territorial integrity are ignored.

The Washington Post writes that this situation has shocked official Kyiv. The Ukrainians refused to withdraw their resolution, which is due to be published on the third anniversary of the large-scale invasion.
