Why this is a big deal:

this mRNA therapy instructs the body to produce the specific fingerprints of the person's tumor and trains the immune system to hunt and kill it.

One way cancer grows is by hiding from the immune system and turning off attacking T-cells. This mRNA therapy provides the tumor's genetic fingerprint so that the immune system can train T-cells to identify the cancer. At Bunnings today: 50 × M8 zinc-plated washers: $8.60 = 17.2¢ each

Buy one galvanised M8 washer: 20¢

Buy 200 zinc-plated M8 washers: $15.75 = 7.9¢ each

So depending on how you buy them, an ordinary washer can literally retail for considerably more than the face value of the 10-cent coin sitting beside it. Of course, drilling holes in coins isn’t the answer, but the picture makes a serious point. The coin hasn’t become smaller and the washer hasn’t become extraordinary it’s the purchasing power of our money has changed. Inflation isn’t just prices going up, it’s your currency actually buying less.
