Did you know this?
Billy Joel never sells tickets to the front rows of his concerts.
Aside from wanting to beat the scalpers, he got tired of all the bored rich people staring up at him.
“They don’t stand up, make noise, [they just] sit there,” he said.
So now, he sends his road crew out to bring down the fans from the worst seats so they’ll be “people in the front row that are really happy to be there, real fans.”
Although it’s only a small gesture, those people at the front enjoy an experience money can’t buy. Their joy spreads to create a vibrant atmosphere which fills the air and gets into the bloodstream of everybody else in the building.
More artists need to take a leaf out of Billy Joel’s playbook.
Sinéad O'Connor was brilliant, smart and courageous as fuck. I hope she’s remembered for her sense of humour, too.
Here she is attending an anti-Sinéad O'Connor demonstration in disguise. Truly one of a kind 🖤
This is one of the most profound videos I’ve filmed since the rise of Trump. I asked him why he was there. Tears rolled down his cheeks. His father who was a WWII veteran (like my dad) told him “We gotta stop this guy”. He was a squadron commander and he lost 110 men and he never got a scratch. And he lived his whole life trying to be worthy of their sacrifice. And he asked me to do the same. So this is a very small thing to do. But why everyone in the country isn’t doing this and trying to understand what this man is doing to our country. I don’t get it. But everybody needs to do something to stop this guy” Please listen to every single word and share. #TrumpArraignment #Truth
@KarenKilgariff from the @BryanBurrough article, @TexasMonthly@skiphol … The killer went to her funeral 😱 I’d love to hear your take.
"Reading about it (killing Susan Woods) in the paper was a high like I had never had before."
“He went to the funeral, SIGNED THE GUEST BOOK”
I’m thrilled to say my first podcast, produced by @TexasMonthly, is available next Tuesday June 20. ‘Stephenville’ is a twisty true-crime tale in the great TM tradition. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. Hope you’ll give it a listen.
@KarenKilgariff, please tell us you’re tuned in to this one. Our buddy @skiphol does the intro in the trailer. I live in this area and the idea that small-town folks used to look away from community crime is 100% true. I think it’s gotten a little better.
Episode 3 of our new true crime podcast "Stephenville" is out NOW!
Armed with new forensic technology, Don Miller takes up the case and gets a break—one that raises even more questions about what happened to Susan Woods. Listen here: https://t.co/5U64KlhjS8
It’s enough just to hear Bill Hader reminisce about cut @nbcsnl skits, but now we have a glimpse of what could have been! 👨👦 Family drama ensues in the latest #SmartLess animation from @cartunaradio.
