Winter Wonder Lard V, Bristol’s premier Lardy day will be held at Bristol Independent Gaming on Saturday 1st February 2025.
We are now looking for games to be put on to make 2025’s Winter Wonder Lard as ‘gert lush’ as previous years.
If there had been an Eastern front in 1813, @andre_crow and myself would have been sent to it, after our lamentable defeat to Mr @JennyTurner1971's French invaders... Vengeance will be ours - in 50 odd years! #SharpPractice#SpreadTheLard
The Forces of Liberty took what can only be described as a bit of a twonking at the hands of the Redcoat Oppressors in a game of #SharpPractice organised by @andre_crow down @BIG_Bristol last night...
#SpreadTheLard
@Simon_Templar3 Perhaps we should have a 'hipster Lard' day where you can only play rules which AREN'T CoC and Sharp Practice. Get all the Triumph of the Will players out of the woodwork. ;)
Random Sunday musing. Would there be interest in a lardy day type event for other historical wargames that (whisper it) aren't TFL? Keep the winning format - non competitive games hosted by people who put on a game/period they are passionate about + beer & curry - but open it up?
@SvelhlauprDavid @jaje7406 @tomjmegan @GlenbrookGames @johnsav06196556 I'm sure @ironcow2103 has got dwarves riding a T-72 somewhere in his fervid imagination ;-)
@GuyBowers13 I ran 'Case Orange' a 1940 CoC weekend last year. We tracked platoon strengths using a modified at the sharp end, but some people were a bit gung ho...
@SvelhlauprDavid The audience is probably a combination, but this isn't some well thought out scheme with a project plan, audience analysis and Gantt chart! Basically it's a day I'd like to go to, with the hope that some other people might want to attend as well :D
@DannyBuckUEA M&T was one of the games I was thinking about. I don't own it and haven't played it (despite probably having figures already!), but would happily sit down to play if someone else put it on!
@BadSocialism@SLondonWarlords This is where I am jealous of having a 'club' to centre it round. You e already got the punters in place. Perhaps a bit harder to do on spec when you're trying to draw a crowd together?
@SvelhlauprDavid Interesting. I see your point, but I think centering on one publisher risks putting off as many as it attracts? (As lardy days inevitably will for those with no interest in TFL). A second world war day with battlegroup, crossfire, rapid fire, cross of Iron etc might work...
@WiseWolfPaints @jaje7406 @tomjmegan @GlenbrookGames @johnsav06196556 Well @BIG_Bristol is a great venue, but to be clear this is an idle thought. It's not a thing! (Yet...)
