Support your local abortion fund. After lists of support in the spring/ summer, donations have slowed down. But need hasn’t. https://t.co/Pt8hQ5w5Gt via @BaltimoreFund
does everyone else have an unshakeable "year shape" in their heads when they imagine future dates, and also does it look like this for all of you, or am I fully insane on both counts?
Sometimes, "getting going" is as much a challenge as "getting done" for our kids. Here's how I support either endeavor when my kids need a nudge. #Project180
CLAIM: "GOP had 40 year plan to get rid of Roe; Dems had nothing"
FALSE!!!!! #40yearplan#Roe#democrats
Here's how things ACTUALLY happened
Excuse all typos....I'm rushing. I hate seeing a field in which I have expertise butchered on social media. It's repulsive.
@mattlindner So now that our rights are no longer guaranteed to us as citizens or as humans, we are left to hoping they’ll be protected because we are employees.
The final paragraph of the three liberals' Dobbs dissent:
"With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent. "
Abortion was first criminalized in the U.S. in the mid-19th century. A key argument was that too many white women were ending their pregnancies. https://t.co/at93pDB49D
Reminder: When Alito claims that the rt to abortion is not "deeply rooted history or tradition" because "28 out of 37 states" banned it throughout pregnancy when the 14A was ratified, he is either being ignorant or willfully deceitful. His own appendix gives him away! A thread:
1/ Can we talk about how problematic Alito’s logic is? Alito reaches back to the 17th c. English Common law to provide a precedent for his decision, but the 17th c. judgments he cites only made abortion a crime if it happened after the child “quickens” or moves (about 20 weeks).
There's a phenomenon I actually see extremely commonly when literature is used to teach history to middle school and high school students. Let's call it "pajamafication."
Grades are in. Joining the chorus of educators - this semester was brutal. We need to radically rethink education at all levels. This is not sustainable.
Fell down a YouTube rabbit hole with the 11 year old. He knows @tmbg, but got to introduce him to @CraigyFerg and @hodgman (who kid says "sounds super bored"). This is a delightful old clip. https://t.co/A0l8T4M1mn
Dear news media,
Do you see how you put your thumb on the scales when you call it a "Spending Bill"? Perhaps you could use terms that actually describe what the BBB plan actually does without using right-wing antigovernment framing? How about "Economic Plan"?
