@codinginflow The android framework is much more opinionated and gives you higher level building blocks, so writing your own thing is less of a necessity. Nothing stopping you to build your own thing on top of the UI framework or on top of opengl though.

@VasiliyZukanov @codinginflow Yes I'm sure when the os was built 15 years ago with 0 users they decided on purpose to make things harder that they could have been while having 0 users to protect from companies to introduce competing OSes at a time when there were competing OSes already. Makes sense.
